An EXCELLENT collection of art. Truly a great place to gain an introduction and insight into the best pieces of art from each period! My favorite place to visit in Chicago! For lunch I would recommend Hot Woks Cool Sushi (just a block up Michigan Ave) as the cafeteria can be a little expensive.

Simply amazing. More than I expected. Stunning artwork from several eras and geographies. The docents were courteous and knowledgeable.

Make sure you have plenty of time to get through this beast. There is a lot more to see than you would think looking from the outside.

A great place to spend a day, or two. Wonderful blend of indoor and outdoor architecture provide ample space for the numerous collections spanning centuries of art. The gift shops and restaurants are very good, and not "overly in-your-face". Lines can be long, so plan on arriving early, and best to leave ample time to look around. If you've exhausted your art-examining abilities for the day, there are lots of parks, shops and restaurants in the immediate area to kill some time.

Very good museum. The contemporary art area is so good and the rest as well impresses a lot. I think the opening hours could be longer though.

Just incredible selection of art. Make sure you see the 18th century European section first, made the, intake of going there last and ran out of time. I allowed 2.5 hours, but reckon you need at least 3.5 to go round this properly, maybe even more. Lovely staff and great way to spend a day or long afternoon. No parking there, get a cab!
