The system would currently work best with robotic spacecraft. According to Lubin, a robotic probe with a thin reflective sail could travel to Mars in three days. On the other hand, a manned shuttle could reach Mars in a month using the laser-based system. He estimates that lasers could accelerate spacecraft to 30 percent the speed of light, which was previously unheard of.

My question is how would they get back in a timely fashion?... #nasa #mars
NASA scientist Philip Lubin is working on perfecting laser technology that could propel a light spacecraft to Mars in as little as three days.

This massive deal, beginning in the summer of 2017, lifts them to second in Europe in terms of sponsorship but still leaves them behind Manchester United's £75 million ($108M) per year adidas deal. Dwarfing third-place Bayern Munich's $61 million-a-year deal, Real Madrid at $49 million/year, and Arsenal at $43 million/year, Chelsea's deal with Nike would be the brand's most expensive, even overshadowing Barcelona's $40 million/year contract as the Blaugrana approach the end of an agreement that stretches through 2018.
After announcing their departure from long-time sponsor adidas, Chelsea have reportedly signed a new kit sponsorship deal with Nike.

I'm looking forward to his next couple of mixtapes before he goes back to jail. Not even being sarcastic. The only way he doesn't go back to jail in the next 2 years is if he dies. I could be wrong but I'm probably not.

I'm surprised The Mets are only a half game back out of first with the abysmal year Harvey is having.

Here's a quote from David Wright, apparently Matt has been avoiding the media.

“All of us like coming in here and talking when we have good games and a few of us, myself included, enjoy coming in here and talking when we don’t play well. Accountability is big and I think [Harvey] just had a bit of a lapse in judgement.” #mets
Matt Harvey, nominal ace of the New York Mets, didn’t stick around to talk to reporters after his most recent disaster of a start, and the local press reacted to the snub in predictable fashion. Now they have moved into Phase 2 of their war with Harvey by trolling the locker room for teammates willing to talk shit about the struggling pitcher. Lucky for them, Mets captain David Wright was happy to oblige.

The state-run China Daily newspaper declared in an editorial on Thursday that the 'atomic bombings of Japan were of its own making'.

It accused present-day Japanese officials of 'trying to portray Japan as the victim of World War II rather than one of its major perpetrators'.
North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, pictured, accused President Obama of 'the wild ambition to dominate the world by dint of the US nuclear edge' following today's historic Hiroshima visit.

President Barack Obama becomes the first sitting President to visit Hiroshima. I have no ill will towards Japan, but didn't they bomb us first?-- In the middle of the night like cowards, I'm all for peace but let's not forget those who died for the U.S. And let's not forget who acted first.

Right now, Cuba is on the brink of becoming like every other country in the world. Raúl Castro, Fidel’s brother, has abolished the need for permission to purchase a foreign-made car. This is the first time the ban has been relaxed since its implementation after the 1959 Cuban revolution. So now, Cuban consumers can purchase more modern vehicles—if they can pay the hefty price.
If you want to take a step back into automotive time, then you need to go to Cuba. That’s a rule in the automotive industry. Havana itself is beautiful, with its brightly colored—if slightly dusty—buildings and milling streets, but there is nothing quite as beautiful as seeing a line of classic cars sitting at an…

They've built up such a rather large infrastructure to facilitate the repair and maintenance of those older cars that I don't see much changing any time soon.

One Rapper gets out of jail another goes in.

Troy Ave, of Brownsville, accidentally shot himself during the chaos in the leg, sources said. He was charged with reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession, according to sources.

Troy, who was to perform at the show, had a beef with Maino, who had just left the stage when at least five shots rang out, sources said.

Police said they were awaiting the result of ballistics tests before charging Troy Ave with murder.

It was unclear why Troy Ave allegedly gunned down Ronald (Edgar) McPhatter, who was said to be close to the rapper. #troyave

BREAKING: Baylor has fired football coach Art Briles amid BU sexual assault allegations. He has 50 wins in past 5 years. This man put Baylor on the map, too bad he had to go out like this. Covering up women getting rape isn't a good thing in any line of work.
He had been under fire for his program's handling of several sexual assault allegations involving his players.
