Hi, I am Arnold, also known as Sailor by some of my friends. I am just an ordinary guy trying to provide for myself and my family on the southern tip of Africa.
I lecture at a private college in Pretoria, South Africa. This work I do as an independent contractor which means I only work for roughly six months out of every year. Most of my spare time is filled with me having a camera in my hands.
I am totally hooked on street photography. Being able to capture those little moments in time that I observe happening right before my eyes is what makes this form of photography stand out from the more traditional forms of photography for me.
I am still in the process of developing my own style of photography. I know that I do not always do things the way others might do them but if I may quote William Klein:
“Be yourself. I much prefer seeing something, even it is clumsy, that doesn’t look like somebody else’s work.”
When I experience problems, I grab my camera, hit the streets and very quickly all my problems are forgotten.
If you have not yet given street photography a try, it is time you do.
When it comes to adding people to my circles I do not only follow street photographers, or even just photographers. My interests are varied and I follow a wide range of people.
