Really liking this new The Bullitts album. Great beats, wide variety of vocals. Weird video pieces (attached is a re-take of Un Chien Andalou) ranging from little experimental flix to a soon to be released Western short.

Hear the album: https://soundcloud.com/thebullitts/sets/they-die-by-dawn-other-short

The first photo in this article could be two blocks from where we lived in China. Much of what is described here is happening on a lesser scale in Ningguo. Very complicated issues, and too many examples of top down planning with no human consideration.
China's government-led urbanization, meant to solve one problem, may be creating a new set of troubles that could plague Chinese cities for generations.

Good morning! Magnets in a copper pipe - makes for oddly non-intuitive video: http://media.firecold.com/videos/this-is-what-happens-when-you-drop-neodymium-magnets-down-a-copper-pipe_hq.mp4

I know that LA has some complicated hoops for trucks to jump through, but the state of food trucks in NYC seems far more difficult.

It's true, most of what you find on the street all comes from the same vendors. (That being said, I will attest that the Wafels and Dinges waffles are indeed delicious.) The story in Chicago is equally dismal - http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-04-28/news/ct-edit-trucks-20130428_1_food-trucks-cheese-sandwiches

Ernie and his family are the best in the business. They are experts with their work, will pick up your furniture if you live on the east side, and are fast and reasonably priced. We've had couch cushions re-stuffed, and a chair with bad webbing repaired - always with better results than expected. Go here.

The tow was fine, but the pricing was confusing at best, a scam at worst and the customer service was awful. The long and short is I was told $65 on the phone with $5/mile. Then the driver arrived and it went to $65 + $25 (5-mile minimum) + $20 labor. Read on if you want the blow by blow. I was told on the phone that their rate was $65, plus $5 per mile. Fine by me. The driver was to arrive in the next 30 minutes. 20 minutes later I get a call from the driver telling me he would arrive in the 20 minutes, which he did. Late - but not a deal breaker yet. The tow driver hooks my car up and raises it off the ground - then asks how much I was told it would cost. '$65, and $5 per mile,' was my reply. He laughed and told me there was a small labor fee - and would not answer how much it would be. Jokingly saying it would be $300. He then told me there was a 5 mile minimum and that my total would be $110 for the trip. He now had the car hooked up - and as we all know that means you have to pay the hook up fee no matter what. I told him I would not that much, as it was far more than the $75 I had been expecting. He insisted the 5 mile minimum was standard practice, despite the fact that I had spoken to another tow company that would have cost $75 including up to 5 miles of towing. He suggested I call the company. I did so and spoke to an incredibly rude operator, who told me that, yes there was a 5 mile minimum, but it must have slipped the operator's mind to mention it, they were very busy. I could 'take it or leave it' but that no matter what, at this point I owed the pick up fee. The final result is that the driver said he would take $10 off of the bill. Joy. These people were unhelpful, rude, condescending and seemed entirely comfortable with charging more than quoted. Stay away.
