I am obsessed with my three Blackberrys, trying to fall in love with my iPhone and enjoy nothing more than reading the Sunday morning papers (yes, newspapers) over coffee...

“The human failing I would most like to correct is aggression...it threatens to destroy us all.”
Forget doomsday asteroids, global plagues and super volcanoes. British theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking says we're facing a much more immediate threat -- and it's our own behavior. “The human failing I would most like t...

"We get to travel all over the country and go on new adventures almost daily...North America is our backyard!"
When Guillaume Dutilh and Jenna Spesard quit their jobs two years ago, they decided to go big -- by going tiny. The two built a 125-square-foot "tiny house" (185 square feet if you count the loft) on a 20-foot-long trailer, latched it on...

Amal Clooney on the upcoming retrial of Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy.
The outcome of the retrial, and its timeframe, remain uncertain. But more importantly, Mr. Fahmy should not be subjected to this process at all....

"In the point of rest at the center of our being, we encounter a world where all things are at rest in the same way. Then a tree becomes a mystery, a cloud a revelation, each man a cosmos of whose riches we can only catch glimpses." - Dag Hammarskjöld

My Q&A with Amerisleep's Firas Kittaneh on how we shop for mattresses, the future of the "smart" bedroom, and how to create the conditions for a truly good night's sleep.
Firas Kittaneh wants to disrupt the mattress industry. And the success of his online mattress company Amerisleep is about more than people's increased willingness to buy a mattress online without every trying it out in a showroom. It's about somethin...

Across the country, more than 21 million children qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, but when classes aren’t in session, these kids are at risk of going without food.
While most kids rejoice upon hearing the news of a snow day, many low-income children dread that phone call more than anything else during the winter season. Across the country, more than 21 million children qualify for free or reduced-priced lun...

something similar is happening in my town, the district pulled hot lunches on account of finances, and the community itself is making free lunches for kids who want them, and a local youth center is offering after-school snacks as well... it affects only a handful of kids, but why should they not get to eat?   http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/hbo/2015/feb/27/why-clark-fork-ditched-hot-lunch/

"There are war-torn countries, people full of poverty, who still voted 60, 70 percent. If here in the United States of America, we voted at 60 percent, 70 percent, it would transform our politics."
President Barack Obama urged Americans frustrated with the lack of progress on immigration reform to voice their discontent at the ballot box, lamenting the dismal turnout in last November's midterm elections. Speaking Wednesday during a town hall...
