The rooms very clean and location was pretty decent if you want to be in the Fishermans Wharf area but the rooms were also tiny and you had to pay top dollar for even a bottle of water! They do have larger suites available but I could only imagine how much they cost considering what we paid for a standard king room ($1640 for 3 nights plus $150 total for valet) It was surprisingly quiet in the room with being right on the street side on the weekend when the area gets most crowded. Also, when they state a view of Alcatraz or The Golden Gate Bridge and you have to pay a little extra for the room, the view actually means a small part of either, so not really a view worth having to pay extra for, I was very disappointed. The entire hotel was clean and architecture was awesome. The downfall was the price and all the extras you have to pay for on top of it! The location was great but nothing makes the hotel stand out compared to cheaper priced hotels in that immediate area. Unless you intend to stay in your room at all times instead of sightseeing, I'd recommend checking out other hotels to save a little money. The "valet" parking was ridiculously priced at $50 per night.....on top of the almost $500 per night room cost. Yes the valet parking has unlimited come and go privileges at no extra charge but don't listen to the person at the check in desk that states other garages in the area don't have this privilege because there is another garage a block away that was $30 with unlimited come and go privileges, the only difference was it is self park. Their "valet" parking was basically non existent when we were checking out. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes for our car.....and the sad part is their garage is right behind the hotel! Because we needed to get on our way to the airport, we ended up having to go fetch our own car, after already paying $50 extra. If you stay at the hotel, I'd say check out other garages in the area before deciding with their valet service. They don't even offer a self park option with their garage being so close! It's difficult to rate the hotel though because yes it was a great place and location, just too expensive for what it is. The hotel has a lot of character and history but definitely not enough to pay as much as we did. Another thing, and I guess the hotel can't help this matter, but it's something that we never read of before booking was the hotel is apparently haunted? I did not experience anything out of the ordinary but my wife certainly did! 2 of the 3 nights it got very hot and then very cold in the middle of the nights, heard footsteps walking on hardwood floors(but everywhere is carpeted), and also feeling as though someone else was in the room and bed.....just a creepy feel. After our 2nd night we decided to do a little research and come to find out we found a bunch of other guest reviews stating the same experiences. Ghosts and all, still no reason to charge as much as they do!

Located in the historic Haslett Warehouse, the Argonaut's home is a grand building built in 1907 of exposed brick, Douglas Fir beams and so much seaside character you feel as though you can almost reach out and touch the past.Inspired by combining the Greek legend and the Gold Rush-era adventurers, it's one of those rare places in San Francisco that truly merits a term like iconic. Most of the rest truly merit the terms'touristy' and 'overpriced'. This boutique hotel is also a level 4-Diamond (4 star) service and amenities that provide an unforgettable and different taste to this destination experience. Couple that with a positively perfect location at San Francisco's most famous address perched on the edge of the Bay at Fisherman's Wharf, and it’s easy to see why the hotel is so coveted..Whether you dine at the Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar, or have a drink around the fire place or sample the wines featured at the nightly hosted wine reception you will be sure to enjoy the comfortable surroundings and friendly atmosphere. PS: This hotel is 'pet friendly'. Ratings out of 100 Position: 95 Noise levels: 85 Servicing of rooms: 90 Cleanliness: 90 Pool and rec. areas: ?? Value for dollar: 75 (comparison for the AUD$$) Overall Rating: 85 (very good)

Amazing place to stay. They had free beer but no breakfast. Beds were comfortable and it was quiet. It was a great place to bring your family. It's close to all the action on Fisherman's Wharf.

We Stayed here in March 2015. When we arrived at the check in desk we were told we had been upgraded to a better room which was a lovely surprise. We then arrived in our room to find a complimentary bottle of wine and a few nibbles with a lovely note welcoming us to the hotel. The room we had was an inside room so there wasn't really a view of any sort but then the room itself was lovely and done the purpose it was there for - somewhere to sleep. In a place as great as San Francisco you wont need the view from your room as you will be out seeing the sights. The staff were extremely helpful and helped with booking excursions or tried to answer any questions you have. We very much enjoyed the complimentary wine hour between 5-6pm. Breakfast in the adjoining blue mermaid was also very good although could be a bit pricey for some. The Argonaut is in a very good location with Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz in view. The cable car that takes you to Union Square and Lombard street is just round the corner from the hotel. There are also lots of different restaurants nearby that do very good food and drinks.

Excellent location, walked down to pier 39 for dinner. Room was very clean and a good size. We were on the outer room overlooking the courtyard next to the hotel. Valet parking was $50 for the night.

I'll give Argonaut 3 star. I was here with my wife on vacation. The rooms were clean. The bed were very soft and nice. The only thing was that a blond lady at the front desk was rude. Whenever I ask for something she wasn't very nice. Maybe this was just an off day though. It's just for that amount I paid for the room, I expect almost everything to be perfect.

Very nice hotel, free wine tasting. The bed was too firm though.
