ACT Essentials (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

ACT adopts a new strategy that moves away from the 'rational strategies of behaviour and thought change' that many people have tried and failed with. Focusing mainly on how people understand and perpetuate their difficulties through language, ACT concentrates on exciting interventions based on metaphor and paradox, with experiential exercises to show how to break free of language traps, overcome common behavioural problems and enhance life satisfaction.

The most recent running of this 3-day course received maximum feedback ratings of 7 out of 7 for both relevance and presentation, plus great written feedback like that below.

This week’s featured course:
The RAID® Course

The 3-day RAID course is the UK’s leading positive behaviour support approach for tackling challenging behaviour at source: over 15,000 professionals have attended it. The course shows professionals how to respond to challenging behaviour when it occurs, but also how to prevent it by tackling it at source. The way we do this is to nurture specific positive behaviour that is targeted to displace the challenging behaviour in question.

Staff feel pleased to share a unified system and to know what they are doing and why they are doing it, while clients delight in a relentlessly positive and empowering approach.

The most recent running of this 3-day course (available onsite, open, or online) received a very high feedback rating of 6.8 out of 7 for relevance and 6.9 out of 7 for presentation, plus great written feedback like that below.

Many people want to familiarise themselves with these skills without necessarily becoming a DBT therapist exclusively, and this 3-day course is for you if you are one of those people as well as if you are thinking of taking the first step in becoming a DBT therapist or establishing a DBT service. As well as covering the ‘overall concept of DBT’, it covers its ‘essential elements’ such as how to set up skills development groups, the inter-relation between the groups and the 1:1 sessions, how to maximise generalistion of the skills learned into real life, how therapists gain support for themselves, how fidelity to the model is maintained, and more.
