Gmail Safety and Security for Schools - Ever since Google Apps moved away from Postini Message Security there have been a lot of questions about how to manage Gmail safety and security settings for schools, especially for students. For example, topics include how to control who students can send email to and receive email from, how to enforce "bad word lists", how to create inbound and outbound content filters, and more.
Last week I gave a presentation on this topic at the Ohio Educational Technology Conference. I have pulled together all of the resources from that presentation on the Apps User Group website at:http://www.appsusergroup.org/presentations/email-security
The resources include:
- A 50-minute video of the training session
- A printable help guide
- A document with a sample objectionable word list
- Sample student Gmail guidelines
- And more
Let me know if you have any questions or helpful information from your experience with these settings.
