Birds birds birds at the Wetland Centre
Just another Bird Park? Not at all. The #Slimbridge Wetland Centre is a fabulous day out. When you first enter the Wetland Centre there are numerous lakes with different species of bird doing their thing and as you explore the site, it is amazing the variety of birds there. We saw 4 different varieties of swan, and it is amazing how colourful some of the birds are. Even our 'common' coot, when you see them up close, have bright colours. About 3 different types of duck with blue bills, yes blue bills! Tip: explore the hides at the far end and see what unusual birds you can spot. Remember your binoculars.

Went to Cirencester yesterday. Lovely town to walk around with some good shops but we wanted to go for a walk in Cirencester Park. The whole walk is 8 kilometres / 5 miles but obviously you can just go as far as you want. The first stretch is on a tarmac path and then you can walk through the woods or on the grass. There are a number of follies dotted about and we got as far as the Polo pitches. Interesting walk and a good stretch of the legs. The lady in the Tourist Info Centre said if you keep going to the end, you can have lunch in Sapperton before walking back which sounds a great idea. Cirencester is about 45 minutes from Broadway. #Cirencester #walk #Cotswolds

It's snowdrop season! The snowdrops are now flowering in our garden. To visit gardens with a snowdrop display, you could go to Snowshill Manor on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February when they are having a special opening. #Broadway #Cotswolds #snowdrops

Broadway in the Cotswolds is looking very pretty at the moment. All the Christmas decorations are up with lots of lights in the trees and all the shops make a fantastic effort with their shop windows. There are plenty of independent retailers here and they find the most unusual things with an emphasis on local producers. Lots of inspiration whether its for that special gift for someone special or lots of stocking filler ideas.

There's lots happening down at Broadway station at the moment and you can read all about it here - http://broadwaystationgroup.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/all-shuttered-up.html . The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway are also busy laying more track and are working their way from Laverton towards Broadway. The celebration when the steam trains chug into Broadway station is going to be enormous.

Interpretation of Cotswold seems to vary slightly but this is one we found the other day in Northleach where they have a Heritage Centre and you can visit the Old Prison.

We are called Apple Tree House for a reason! This is one of the old apple trees in the garden. We are just starting to pick them and they will be featuring on our breakfast table - along with plums and damsons from the garden. How local is that?

Now the schools have gone back, it's a great time to escape for a little me time! There are lots of events coming up still. There is a craft fair at Winchcombe station on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September so you could hop on the steam train down to Winchcombe to see the fair. Alternatively, what about the American Classic Autumn Weekend at Prescott Hill Climb on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October?
