My new paper on donations and lost letters experiments in Northern Ireland shows how conflict make people less cooperative with the out-group, but has not effect on how people behave with the in-group. Wealth and education better explain the variation in cooperative behaviour.

The annual LERN debate is coming up and the motion this year is: "Humans are Unique. There is a qualitative difference between humans and other animals as well as a quantitative one". For the motion we have Kim Hill and Tim Clutton-Brock and against the motion we have Robert Barton and Volker Sommer. It's on Monday 14th November, 5pm at the Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre, UCL followed by a wine reception.

I may only have 177 friends on Facebook but I now have over 400 people following me on Google + and increasing everyday. Yeah, I rock (anyone has any idea why? they are completely strangers to me...)

Beautiful house designed by Mackintosh, definitely worth a visit. Pity you are not allowed to photograph.

Come here for the half price oysters; large variety and excellent. Food is also good but a bit overpriced.

Incredibly good value for drinks, excellent selection of beers and spirits and no loud music.

Good but overpriced food with bad service. Charging £11.50 for breakfast and then charging extra for toast is not really cool; flat white was just milky coffee; side of bacon was just fat (but removed from our bill); unpleasant waitress (but nice manager); and to top it all overcharged us on the bill.

Amazing food in slightly incongruous surroundings. Great food, highly recomended.

The brunch was awful; one of the worst and most expensive I meals I had in Lisbon. €14 gets you one measly slice of bacon, pancake that is actually a cake, undercooked eggs and instant coffee.
