Weird that a robot is reading the text for the opening intro. Seems to contradict what Lanier is saying.

Not weird at all.  Lanier is awfully incoherent.

I'm sorry, but there is no evidence that this is real or purports to be what the headline claims. In addition, it's clearly from old videotape which would make this from the past, a time and year that is not evident. This could be anywhere from any year. It doesn't prove anything.

Fairly narrow and limited view of technology. It leaves out the environmental impact of our gadgets and the internet. Also, it ignores how these gadgets enable the NSA to monitor all of our activities. Indeed, we hold the future in our hands, but we best be careful how we play it.

I think many will really appreciate this article, which profiles the researchers who came up with the term WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic). It challenges many assumptions about how many of us in the social sciences view cognition and culture.

We Aren’t the World: Joe Henrich and his colleagues are shaking the foundations of psychology and economics—and hoping to change the way social scientists think about human behavior and culture.

This is a great video about the "overview effect" of seeing Earth from space. I hope you have time to watch it. It's well worth it.
