It’s Official: Japan Now has More Electric Car Charging Spots than Gas Stations*
One of the first countries in the world to embrace modern electric cars, Japan has long been considered something of a shining example on how electric car rapid charging infrastructure should be implemented. In fact, look at the charging station maps for Japan, and you’ll see a sea of CHAdeMO DC quick chargers blanketing every major route …

I was not born in Australia, and have since been accepted and made my home in this beautiful country. Gough Whitlam was a true visionary who embodies fairness, inclusion, equality and suspension of prejudice by engaging those who some too easily brand as "the other". To me he is an avatar of the Australian spirit with distinction. It is that Australia which instills hope and inspiration in the rest of the world. I hope that the flame he carried and which resonates with so many of us throughout history, will continue growing brighter in the true continuation of the Enlightenment which in many ways are still in its infancy.

It is a little sobering that in 2014 25% of the (US) public believed that the sun revolves around the earth. It is hard not to be snarky about it, but I am actually not. It clearly illuminates the reasons why so many fail to understand climate change and hence automatically deny it. If you never learned how to do addition, you will not be able to do multiplication... I hope our governments take from this that even in "first world" countries we should never see education as a once off tick in a box, but an ongoing process crucial to the health of the entire population.

If Lincoln, Washington, or Kennedy were brought back to life and sat down in Washington, they'd be ashamed, astonished, and would immediately die of shock...
From the article:
“What’s happened over the past 40 years is that both parties have shifted to the right. The Democrats are what used to be called ‘moderate Republicans,’ and the Republicans are just off the spectrum — they’re not even a parliamentary party anymore.”

Is it important to you that we in Australia can decide what is best for our environment, or should we give up that right so that multi-nationals can "protect" their profits? We need to read the fine print of this treaty; the devil is in the details.
"The Canadian state of Quebec is being sued for CAD$250 million of taxpayers' money after putting a pause on fracking.
To be clear, Quebec hasn't decided to ban fracking, it's simply asked for time to conduct environmental studies to find out whether the process is safe"
Australia is preparing to sign an agreement that would give international corporations the power to go over the government's head on environmental issues. Here's what you need to know about the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

Introduction
I am interested in in getting people active and engaged in local natural and urban environments. The areas I am most interested in is the climate (longer term trends), GIS (making electronic models of physical environments), conservation, vulnerability and adaptation and how to bring together various aspects in a useful way to change peoples perspectives on their world. We all have the power to change our world into one we are proud of, and enjoy spending time in.
