This picture was taken at the lava cave known as Furna do Frei Matias. The legend tells that at this cave lived an hermit seeking refugee and loneliness and, the probably the origin of the name. This cave spans for about 1Km with a maximum width of 14.2m. Some parts of the ceiling fell which allows the light to enter and keep lush green plants alive like the ones in the photo.
It is me on the photo exploring the cave with a headlight. The ceiling reflects marvellous silver colours when hit by the light.
The photo was taken at Pico island in Azores, it was the only decent one. Pico was the island I had higher expectations for photography but the one with worse results due to bad weather. This is the life of a landscape photographer :)
Pico is the name given to the island and also the highest portuguese mountain, which I have climbed with terrible weather. The weather was so bad that even I carried all the photographic gear, I didn't take the camera of the backpack. Really thick fog and wild gusts made the climb a total nightmare. If you plan to climb Pico (which is an awesome thing to do, since you can see 5 Azorean islands) ask the locals for advice, they know.
Since the weather was bad we had to change our plans, so we spent the time visiting the vineyards and tasting local wine and cheese that are really great. Pico's wine is unique in the world and the vineyards are considered by Unesco, world heritage.
Have a nice and inspired week my friends.

This is the second in the list of my B&W film photos that I want to show you. This is the scan of the negative. No adjustments made digitally at all. Black&White. Film. No adjustments. It doesn't get more #SOOC than this, right?
