10 Important Google Analytics Features SMEs Often Overlook

In a bid to save time, many business owners log in to GA all too infrequently, subsequently overlooking some of the most important features and functionality available to actually save this precious time.

Are you guilty of overlooking these important features?

Juggling multiple tasks and roles is business as usual for the typical SME director and as such, time is precious. This daily juggling can take its toll, and all too often, critical tasks get overlooked. This couldn’t be more evident with Google Analytics (GA). Smart Local Roundup - Poke your Listing, Yahoo Maps, Now On Tap and Street View

Keeping the roundup focused on Google and Yahoo this week with a few important pieces of info coming out. If you don't regularly poke your GMB listing then there's good reason why you should. We'll shortly be saying farewell to Yahoo Maps, there are some changes to Google's Business View program and a couple of great articles on how the magic of Now On Tap may affect local search. Enjoy!

Why you need to poke your Google My Business listing
Reports started floating about a couple of days ago that Google were starting to unverify Google My Business listings that had no action in a few months. These reports were confirmed by Google and are currently only affecting users in the US. Check out all the posts below for full details. To poke your listing just means you need to log in to your GMB account, click on Edit, check that all your details are still accurate and then Click on Finished Editing.

Yahoo Maps shutting down at end of June
Originally launched in March 2002 http://smrtl.cl/1KIw7dq and redesigned in 2007, Yahoo Maps is officially being shuttered at the end of this month. It's been in decline since about 2006 and while it may still be trending higher that Apple Maps http://smrtl.cl/1KIvU9X it's clearly not a key component for Yahoo moving forward. They'll be continuing to support it through other Yahoo properties such as Flickr, but that'll be it. Doubt that anyone here in the UK will notice!

Google's "Now On Tap" and what it means for local search
One of the coolest things to come out of last week's Google I/O conference was the announcement of Now On Tap http://smrtl.cl/1KIwncf For local search this is huge as consumers move more and more towards mobile search. Couple of articles below that dive into things a little deeper but in summary if, as a local business, you're not present online then you're going to miss out. And by present I mean visible and active.

Virtual tours on Google gets another re-brand
Whether you know it as "See Inside", "Google Business View" or call it something entirely different the 360 degree virtual tours are becoming Street View | Trusted. Whatever they're called they remain an important aspect of fully optimising a GMB listing and really help to give consumers a direct look into your business before they get in touch or visit.

Been to Bertram's twice in the past 12 months, once for a meal with my partner and once for a private meal upstairs with around 40+ guests. On both occasions the food was top drawer. Presentation was nice, portion sizes were generous and the quality of food was mouth wateringly excellent. The restaurant design and decor oozes class and makes you feel like you really are eating in at a top quality restaurant - which you are. The staff are extremely friendly, especially the guy who is front of house - he's always smiling. Bertram's is a breath of fresh air for Burnley. Go try for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

I attended the search and social media marketing course in 2011 and it turned out to be the best thing I ever done in my life. I went from knowing next to nothing about SEO and Social Media to being able to educate my friends about it and soon after finishing the course, securing a job as an SEO consultant. Big thanks to the course tutor Aleksej Henze for his flawless knowledge, excellent teaching skills and helpful personality. The course content was delivered in a well paced manner and was up to date with the latest SEO and social trends. I was well equipped to start my new job after finishing the course. I highly recommend the course to anyone who has an interest in SEO, social media and digital marketing in general.
