We were at the library a little before 1. It was so awesome seeing a bunch of little kids waiting patiently, but with much enthusiasm, for the opening. We then went over to the tennis courts; you guys have junior courts as well! Perfect afternoon!

Suffice to say, even a for-profit school, educators should be educators first, rather than businessmen with no regard to students and parents. Shrewsbury is the only school without a published timeline of their application process. As part of our relocation from California to Thailand, we reached out to Shrewsbury in January to begin the application process for our 8 year old daughter. We were put on hold and was not advised of any action items. Finally, in May, when we needed to start finalizing our plans, we were told by the "Customer Services Admissions Executive" that Shrewsbury "review[s] ALL applications and assessment results before selecting the students most suitable for our school." Naturally, all schools reserve the right to accept whoever they want. But why wait till May to inform us of the process, and why the emphasis on "ALL" without providing a timeline on the decision making? Were we supposed to wait until the day before school starts before finding out the decision? Despite the warning flags, we continued on. We were then told our daughter needs to sit through a 4 hour "assessment test." For a school that flaunts "record breaking examination results," Shrewsbury, ironically, chooses not to use any standardized test for their own admissions process. Rather, Shrewsbury sent us scans of workbook exercises and asked our school to administer them, a burden neither my daughter nor the school could afford at the end of the school year with existing obligations. When confronted with these concerns, Principal Holroyd simply states he "take[s] issue" with my feedback, the team acted in "complete compliance with our policies" and "conclude our relationship with you." In today's age of transparency, your "policies" is what's wrong. Remember, you are supposed to be educators, not money grubbers; dangling false hope of vacancies in pursuit of the almighty dollar does not do yourself any favors.
