I feel like such a hipster for posting a picture of my dinner, but it looked damn pretty to me (and was damn tasty)

Thanks to "Ask Me Another", I now sort of wish Harrison Ford had turned down the role of Han Solo... Because George Lucas's next choice was Christopher Waken.

I am thinking I should replace my Galaxy Nexus. I would of course be buying used, but I'm having trouble deciding between a Moto X or an HTC One (M7). I don't want to go bigger than 4.7" on the screen, and I regard Samsung the same way I regard Sony (if there is absolutely no other option, and there will not be one, only then will I grudgingly pick Samsung/Sony). any thoughts?

So, building a computer for a friend, but having some problems.

1) microcenter is half an hour away in Houston. (I've only been here for two weeks, and I hate it more than any other city I've ever been to, let alone lived in.)
2) mini-ITX builds are really obnoxious. (Great once they are done, terrible to build.)
3) Gigabyte, as a company, will not get any business from me in the future, as punishment for gross incompetence. (who the hell releases a motherboard that does not support the current generation of processors without a bios update. An update that can only be applied by the previous generation of processors. I could tear down my computer to update the motherboard, but I'm not going to risk killing my CPU because gigabyte are [expletive] morons. Just going to return the processor I bought, get a previous generation chip for the build, and if the owner wants to upgrade later, then fine.)

I am preparing to haul my butt and a selection of my stuff to Houston, TX. so, dear reader (yes, I know there is only one of you), do I take my normal route (950 miles through Oklahoma City, with tolls, but on interstates all the way), or do I take the shorter route Google Maps offers (799 miles through Little Rock, no tolls, but on state highways all the way)? bearing in mind that, as a concept, Arkansas utterly terrifies a city boy like me.

$15 isn't bad at all actually. LAst time I used toll roads it sucked me dry almost $50 round trip for a three hour drive.

being an atheist, I don't believe in hell, or karma... but in observance of Fred Phelps' death, I'm more than willing to make an exception.

Larry Santoro was one of my favorite narrators on Starship Sofa. this is very sad news indeed.

I've woke up this morning and my world has just fell away.
My friend Lawrence Santoro has died. I thought of Larry as my brother. I will miss him so very very much. Tycelia my thoughts and prayers surround you and give you comfort at this time.
Will miss you Larry - your friend Tony

dreams are bizarre... even more so when you actually remember parts of them. tonight's episode: taking an exhibition ride on a vehicle that is, apparently, both the new London Underground, and the new London Bus. having lunch on said vehicle (that we had brought with us) with my siblings and my mother, while the advanced features of the vehicle are pointed out by a tour guide/marketing person who is undoubtedly a friend I knew from Wyoming and before (Shorty_Red, with earlobes stretched to accommodate small color-changing LED plugs [how's that for a memorable marketer]), but who does not recognize me in the slightest. my brother tells me, over lunch (mine is some sort of wrap, but the tortilla is made of egg), that I should go to Fiji. the marketing girl points out that the system functions much more efficiently because the vehicles travel their own length every second at full speed. she demonstrates this using an umbrella as a visual aid. It doesn't make sense for there to be an umbrella, as it was not raining when we got on board (which happens prior to the dream). then we are topside, exiting the vehicle, which is pulled off to the left (so how can it be London?) at a bus stop in the entrance to a parking lot.

the strange part is that I remember any of it. the Really Strange Part (TM) is how many odd details I specifically remember.
