With Firefox 43 we have the possibility to natively disable known trackers. With the new privacy protection mode you can do more than you think. An experiment worth trying.

You might have heard that Facebook has introduced 2G Tuesdays to make developers aware of the performance implications. We can do this in many more occasions, one of them is emulating package loss with mobile data, another one ad-blocking. And as ad-blocking and privacy-extensions are on a quick rise currently with native solutions coming up as well, we should consider this a common use-case for our products we build.

I recently researched font loading again as I wanted to use a local copy of a font and serve it as fast and smooth as possible. This is a quite different approach to when you use TypeKit or Google fonts and their simple copy/paste snippets… #javascript #css

If you’re located near Germany, you should consider buying a ticket for this year’s http://www.nightlybuild.io/. It’s only 49€ and will be an amazing evening with great speakers and lots of people to connect with.

Hey friends! I'm so excited to finally share with you what I and many others have been working on tirelessly to release:

Hangouts in an instant: Video chat without downloading a plugin

Starting today, we're rolling out an update that makes it easier than ever to start Hangouts video calls with your family and friends! You'll now be able to launch Hangouts in Chrome without having to download and install a plugin. Just click to start the Hangout, allow Hangouts to use your camera and microphone, and you’ll be good to go!

This update is now available for all Chrome Dev and Canary users, and will be rolling out to all Chrome users over the next few weeks. If you've been meaning to connect face to face with your loved ones near and far, give it a try and get going with just a few clicks!

Last week I read a few things about saving energy. It turns out that our consumer behavior is broken. https://helloanselm.com/notes/clever-consumer-behavior.html #energy   #greenliving

We've found a new location for this year's conference. NightlyBuild 2015 will take place at Theaterhaus Köln (http://www.theaterhaus-koeln.de/) in Ehrenfeld, Cologne - just a couple of streets away from last year's location.
We are very happy we have found a bigger location with a nice flair for the conference.
This year we expect 180 attendees and are already looking forward to see a lot of you there on 4th of September.
A hand-crafted after work event for web enthusiasts loving technology, design and inspiration in Cologne, Germany

They serve great, tasty (and big) Pizza, great red wine and are very friendly. The site is nice and italian style and, of course it had to be tested, the Espresso is good as well. All in all, my favourite Italian restaurant in the district.
