Amazon unveils 'As Seen on Kickstarter' section
Exactly a year ago, Amazon unveiled Amazon Launchpad, which is the section on Amazon where start-ups can hawk their wares. Today Amazon has announced the 'Kickstarter Collection', where customers can purchase products 'as seen on Kickstarter'.

As we reported earlier today, Verizon has acquired Yahoo for nearly 5 billion dollars. You can read more about that here. However here, below, is the full text of Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer's email letter to Yahoo employees announcing the acquisition.

The queries that no one seems to have asked:

1. How will this affect the lower down employees at Verizon and Yahoo? Clearly they will not all be needed. And Marissa? All CEO's get a golden handshake, so she is not an issue.

2. How will this affect the users of AOL email, and other stuff, and Yahoo email and other stuff?

EFF, Bunnie Huang, File Lawsuit to Invalidate Onerous Anti-Research Provisions of DMCA
For years it has been the case that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) has had a chilling effect on, among other things, security research. That is because the intended chilling effect on copying things, such as music, also bleeds over to research and development of anything related to any device or code which is 'protected' under the DMCA. Legal scholars, technologists, and security researchers have argued that the DMCA - and in particu...

Snapchat is being sued for curating sexually explicit material and making it available to minors. The class action lawsuit against Snapchat is over the Snapchat 'Discover' service. Snapchat Discover curates content from "top publishers", such as Vice, Cosmo, Buzzfeed, CNN, and People. It's the first, Vice, among others, which has lead to this lawsuit, as Vice contains content that is clearly R (some would say X) rated, and so not suitable for chi...

So, someone's lawyers are out for a quick buck.
The best way to protect minors from porn on their phone is NO PHONE FOR THEM!

It is now official. We live in a distracted society. And people have phones smarter than they are. It is Official.

And Khrushchev WAS right, but merely prescient, and about 50 years early: We are now officially decadent.

If you ever had a Paypal account between 2006 and 2015, and ever had a hold placed on your account or funds, or a reserve imposed on your account, or had your account suspended or closed by Paypal, you may well be entitled a refund under the settlement for this lawsuit! And it's easy to file a claim!
If you had or have a Paypal account that was active between 2006 and 2015 (and who hasn't?) you may be entitled to money from Paypal under the settlement of a class action lawsuit against Paypal. The lawsuit against Paypal, Moises Zepeda v. PayPal Inc. (case number 4:10-cv-02500-SBA, the full Zapeda v. Paypal complaint is below), was filed back in 2010, and is finally settled.

Verizon and Yahoo have been sleeping with each other in one way or another since at least 2005 (when the domain verizon.yahoo.com was launched), but now Verizon is finally going to make an honest woman of Yahoo. Yesterday it was announced that Verizon has acquired Yahoo for $4.83 billion. Now we just need to agree on what the Hollywood-style name for the new couple should be - should it be Veriz-hoo or Yahoozon?

Federal court rules data stored on overseas server safe from U.S. warrant.
A Federal court has ruled that Microsoft is within its rights to refuse to comply with a U.S. warrant that demanded the production of email stored on a Microsoft server located in Ireland. The decision in the lawsuit, involving a warrant issued by the government under the Stored Communications Act (SCA), was handed down by a Federal Court of Appeals in the United States, meaning that unless the Feds want to take it to the Supreme Court, it is no...

I presume this is good news, until the CIA wants the data.... Then the Hummers will Roll, and a New Mission Impossible Movie will result.

But yet, I have not expectation of privacy on my personal computer, despite the fact that Mirthcosoft does.... in Ireland...

Peter Deacon had been a Pandora user for years, using Pandora's free service. Then Pandora shared his private information, including his full name, his music preferences, and what he listened to, both on Facebook, and for anyone searching the Internet, Not cool, he thought, and sued for breach of privacy. But the Michigan high court ruled last week that because he doesn't pay for the Pandora account, he is not a 'customer', and so not entitle...

If you have a Netflix account, you may have received an email from them much like the one below, advising you that the rate increase that they announced some time ago is about to go into effect. You may also recall that they actually raised their rates in 2014, but existing accounts were grandfathered in for as much as two years. Here are the new prices.

It better be HEVC or some righteous bit-rate h.264...

I've not found any reason to subscribe, but then I only have 100Mbit/s to the bunnyhaus. (And yes, for Steam downloads, I do get really close to wire speed again ^^;)

Story

Introduction
I am the CEO of ISIPP, providers of SuretyMail Email Accreditation.  We help legitimate email senders get their email to the inbox, instead of the junk folder.  Our publishing arm, ISIPP Publishing, publishes, among other thing, TheInternetPatrol.com, DearEsq.com, and DadsRights.org.

But more important than any of that, I am mom to a wonderful teenaged son, and a grown daughter (who recently got married, so I have also just acquired an awesome new son-in-law!)
Bragging rights
I am currently knee-deep in email policy, before this I was one of the first fathers' rights attorneys in the country, and in-between I authored part of our Federal anti-spam law, CAN-SPAM (one of the best parts of it, I think). I am nearly vegan, very vegetarian, and an ardent (but not militant) lover of all animals. My three rules for life are: 1. You do what you gotta do; 2. It is what it is; 3. Make a difference. I'm quite proud of this relief effort that I spearheaded: http://www.DushanbeRelief.org. And, oh yes, I started ('newgrouped') the entire alt.support hierarchy on Usenet, back in the day.

Ohmygosh, Dale and the crew at 5Star Limo are THE BEST!!! The Short Version: Best Service, Best Rates, Best Drivers, *and* Best Car (in fact many limo services don't even *have* stretch limos any more!) The Longer Version: I found myself needing to line up a limo for my son's birthday *the night before his birthday*, and so I scrambled trying to line one up. I reached out to several limo services, and even though it was already late evening, Dale emailed me back immediately, and stayed in communication with me throughout the evening as we worked everything out. He not only immediately understood what I was trying to do (make my son's birthday the best it could be), but he seemed to genuinely care and wanted to help me to ensure that my son had a wonderful birthday. But that's not all! My son had a *wonderful* time having a limo at his disposal for the evening of his birthday, and he said that the driver was *awesome*. I mean, *seriously* awesome!! Thank you, Dale, and the whole 5star crew for helping me to give my son the birthday that he wanted!! I realize that this review may sound too good to be true - but it is a real review from a genuine customer - feel free to google me and contact me if you want to know more. I'm Anne P. Mitchell, attorney at law, and you can reach me through my company, ISIPP. P.S. I did eventually hear back from a few other limo services (well after we had already confirmed with - and were thrilled with - Dale and 5Star), and it turned out that none of them even had a stretch limo, and they were all more expensive than 5Star!

First, to qualify my background, I am the CEO of a company that has published more than a dozen websites for many years. Ground Group, and their founder, Justin House, are *exceptional* both in terms of the quality of their work, and their responsiveness (both in terms of time of response, and customer needs). I *highly* recommend them!
