Word to all my California friends and colleagues
A law that was passed in California last year, and that went into effect on January 1, 2017, makes it illegal for anyone operating a motor vehicle to hold a cellphone in their hand while driving. Assembly Bill 1787 ("AB 1785") criminalizes "driving a motor vehicle while holding and operating a handheld wireless telephone or a wireless electronic communication device."

How to Create a Gmail Filter with an “OR” or an “AND” Argument
If you use Gmail either as your primary email provider, or as a pass-thru account (for example, as an offsite spam filter through which you first run your email before forwarding it to your primary email account), then you have undoubtedly set up some filters and labels on Gmail. And, you may have been frustrated at trying to set up a filter to deal with certain communications, only to find that it seems you have to create a separate filter for e...

In an unprecedented move, electoral college electors from several states, and both parties, have published an open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, demanding an intelligence briefing on President-elect Donald Trump's ties to, and assistance from Russia in winning the election.

One Texas elector, the rest already not voting Trump, so not that meaningful.

If you have started receiving spam iCal calendar invitations on your iPad or iPhone or Mac, you're not alone. This is because of some change that Apple has made allowing spammers to send you 'in-app' iCal invitations for calendar events. Here's how to turn that off.

Today is Giving Tuesday! Won't you please earmark a little of your Giving Tuesday donations to Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center? (Hey, I believe in them so much I joined the board ;~) ). It's easy to donate any amount you like, just go to the site (below) and hit the red donate button - or you can sponsor an animal here: http://www.greenwoodwildlife.org/donate/sponsor-an-animal-2/

Let me know that you've donated if you want a special shoutout of gratitude! :~)

I'm loving this cool service from Amazon! Text message notifications of when your packages are delivered, etc.!
Here's a nifty, little known service offered by Amazon: text message (i.e. SMS) notifications of when an Amazon order is delivered to your door, as well as when an order has been shipped, when a refund has been posted to your account, etc.. In this day and age of so-called 'porch pirates' (people who follow the UPS truck and steal your packages as soon as they are delivered) this is proving to be a very useful service!

A VERY interesting look into how misinformation (false news) is spread and rarely fact-checked
A new web-based service allows you to track the spread of specific misinformation (i.e. false news) on Twitter and Facebook, as well as checking how many times it was actually fact-checked by people to see if it was..you know... true.. before passing it along. The service, called Hoaxy, is the brainchild of a team out of Indiana University's Network Science Institute (IUNI), in conjunction with Indiana U's Center for Complex Networks and Systems ...

We figure things out so you don't have to (it shouldn't be this complicated!)
Wouldn't you think that it would be fairly straightforward to figure out how to change or update your phone number on eBay? eBay has been around long enough that when some people first opened their accounts they may even have had landlines (imagine that)! However, it's not obvious how to update your telephone number on eBay, so here is how to change that phone number.

One more example of if you are going to do something that you want to keep completely private, don't do it on the Internet. Because on the Internet there is almost no such thing as actual privacy, only privacy that hasn't been breached yet.
Those of you who breathed a sigh of relief over the hacking of the Ashley Madison adult cheaters site because instead you are on one of the Friend Finder sex hookup sites, such as Adult Friend Finder (AdultFriendFinder.com) - guess what? It turns out that last month Friend Finder Networks, parent company of Adult Friend Finder and other associated sites such as Penthouse.com, Cams.com, iCams.com, and Stripshow.com - totaling over 412 million acco...

Story

Tech CEO, Attorney, Fathers' Rights Advocate, Vegetarian
Introduction
I am the CEO of ISIPP, providers of SuretyMail Email Accreditation.  We help legitimate email senders get their email to the inbox, instead of the junk folder.  Our publishing arm, ISIPP Publishing, publishes, among other thing, TheInternetPatrol.com, DearEsq.com, and DadsRights.org.

But more important than any of that, I am mom to a wonderful teenaged son, and a grown daughter (who recently got married, so I have also just acquired an awesome new son-in-law!)
Bragging rights
I am currently knee-deep in email policy, before this I was one of the first fathers' rights attorneys in the country, and in-between I authored part of our Federal anti-spam law, CAN-SPAM (one of the best parts of it, I think). I am nearly vegan, very vegetarian, and an ardent (but not militant) lover of all animals. My three rules for life are: 1. You do what you gotta do; 2. It is what it is; 3. Make a difference. I'm quite proud of this relief effort that I spearheaded: http://www.DushanbeRelief.org. And, oh yes, I started ('newgrouped') the entire alt.support hierarchy on Usenet, back in the day.

Ohmygosh, Dale and the crew at 5Star Limo are THE BEST!!! The Short Version: Best Service, Best Rates, Best Drivers, *and* Best Car (in fact many limo services don't even *have* stretch limos any more!) The Longer Version: I found myself needing to line up a limo for my son's birthday *the night before his birthday*, and so I scrambled trying to line one up. I reached out to several limo services, and even though it was already late evening, Dale emailed me back immediately, and stayed in communication with me throughout the evening as we worked everything out. He not only immediately understood what I was trying to do (make my son's birthday the best it could be), but he seemed to genuinely care and wanted to help me to ensure that my son had a wonderful birthday. But that's not all! My son had a *wonderful* time having a limo at his disposal for the evening of his birthday, and he said that the driver was *awesome*. I mean, *seriously* awesome!! Thank you, Dale, and the whole 5star crew for helping me to give my son the birthday that he wanted!! I realize that this review may sound too good to be true - but it is a real review from a genuine customer - feel free to google me and contact me if you want to know more. I'm Anne P. Mitchell, attorney at law, and you can reach me through my company, ISIPP. P.S. I did eventually hear back from a few other limo services (well after we had already confirmed with - and were thrilled with - Dale and 5Star), and it turned out that none of them even had a stretch limo, and they were all more expensive than 5Star!

First, to qualify my background, I am the CEO of a company that has published more than a dozen websites for many years. Ground Group, and their founder, Justin House, are *exceptional* both in terms of the quality of their work, and their responsiveness (both in terms of time of response, and customer needs). I *highly* recommend them!
