Are you eating the dirtiest fruits and veggies every day?

Check out the 2015 Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 Lists just released from EWG. It's expensive to buy organic, but I recommend that you focus on getting those food items on the Dirty Dozen list as organic produce to avoid the heavy pesticides and minimize your risk of developing a chronic health condition. While buying organic is always best to avoid the chemicals, the produce on the Clean 15 are lower even when not organic.

Lets not forget...Spring is almost here and so you’ll want to really explore buying local from farmers that you know grow organic produce or at least use organic practices. Local and need a referrals? I have some great farmers that I work with, just PM me.

Are you like me and mostly crave salads in the spring and summer? I not only focus on eating healthy but seasonally. You can still enjoy salad in the winter simply by warming up your vegetables and adding to room temperature greens. This also helps those of us with challenged digestive systems who can't eat raw foods. Have you ever tried warm salad?

Everybody needs a coach. We have them sprinkled throughout our lives, whether we play sports, we have mentors at work, we have teachers and guidance counselors at school, therapists and so on. Their jobs all have something in common...to teach, guide and support. That's exactly what a health coach does in the area of health and nutrition.

I think of it this way. If you were truly ready to make the changes to your diet and health on your own, you would have already started. That's not to say you don't want it. I've been where you are, wanting it, but not sure where or how to start. So what's stopping you? Taking that plunge with a health coach was exactly what I needed to get me started on the right track because I was clueless to what it meant to eat foods that were right for my body. Allow me to be your guide, your teacher and show you the "what and how" so you can achieve your health goals. I look forward to taking this journey with you.

So today starts the 1st day of Lent and growing up in the Catholic faith we were taught and encouraged to "give up something" for Lent. “Comparison is the thief of joy.” —Theodore Roosevelt

I think at one time or another we’ve all played the comparison game.  Whether we’re comparing our looks, successes, our possessions, who we know, the list is endless and the comparisons are not doing us any good.  In fact they are robbing us of our very own joy.  #1 really struck me.  Comparisons are “always” unfair.  We typically compare the worst we know of ourselves with the best we “presume” in others.  

You may find yourself falling into the comparison trap on a daily basis and be thinking how do I stop comparing myself to others?  Easier said than done I know, we are after all HUMAN.  Often we compare what we’re doing in our life to others yet they may be several steps ahead of us whether it’s in their job or healing from an illness.  Can you see where we are robbing ourselves when we have this kind of thinking? Everyone has a different path, a different pace and different challenges to face along the way.  

The author shares 9 very practical things you can do to stop comparing yourself.   By focusing more on things that can’t be compared or looking inward vs. being focused on what is deemed the societal norm we are taking away the need to compare.   I loved this example:  

Pursue the greater things in life.

Some of the greatest treasures in this world are hidden from sight: love, humility, empathy, selflessness, generosity. Among these higher pursuits, there is no measurement. Desire them above everything else and remove yourself entirely from society’s definition of success.

Introduction
I am a holistic health coach that practices in a functional nutrition model.  I work with clients to peel back the layers of their symptoms, from exploring their health history in great detail, looking at events that may have triggered this health crisis to determining the things that are contributing to keeping them sick.  We explore their health story examining what’s going on in your body and then we formulate a plan for addressing their health issues while I guide them step by step through the process.

Imagine finally getting lasting results vs. having to look for another practitioner in which you’re spinning your wheels and still end up not getting anywhere except maybe sicker and definitely more frustrated.

My journey has included 30 years of chronic conditions and several autoimmune diseases that really kept me trapped in a circular pattern of illness.  Can you relate?  But despite the difficulties it has been worth every challenge, roadblock, wrong turn, successful diagnosis, turning point, and journey to healing.  I began to realize through working with several health coaches and holistic practitioners that dietary and lifestyle changes would be the key to my health turning around and it was.  Working with these health professionals and learning how to advocate for myself was life changing both medically speaking and professionally.  It’s what prompted me to enroll in and graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in December, 2013 and since July, 2013 I have been working with clients both locally and nationally to resolve their health issues.

The clients I work with have digestive issues and chronic inflammation (migraines, bloating, gas, constipation, acne, IBS, IBD, Crohns disease, colitis, celiac, gluten sensitivity, food allergies, seasonal allergies, diabetes and more.) and I help them determine what their body is sensitive to, learn strategies to heal vs. manage or cover up their symptoms, and then use this knowledge to break the vicious cycle of their chronic and debilitating conditions. 

I am knowledgable on over 100 dietary theories but most familiar with GF, Paleo, GAPS, SCD, Body Ecology, Candida Diet, Low FODMAPS, Low Oxalates, Low Histamine, and very comfortable addressing food allergies through elimination diets.

I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach trained by functional nutrition experts to help my clients address the root cause of their illness and conditions.  I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and I’m also enrolled in studies with the Institute for Bioindividual Nutrition, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition and Functional Nutrition Labs.
