Memes Are FUN!
and can demonstrate sophisticated thinking

I'm hoping some students in MACBETH GOES SOCIAL will create cat and dog memes.

"AND MACBETH THOUGHT . . . HE WAS AMBITIOUS!"
"FOUL IS FAIR . . . I AGREE."

Macbeth Cat Meme

This isn't merely "Sad Cat," is it . . . more like Totally Tragic Cat.

Are you TEAM GLASGOW or TEAM SOUTH CAROLINA?
Which accent will dominate?
12th graders in South Carolina will hear Glaswegians read the first 12 lines of Macbeth, ask questions, and pick up the accent in a pick-up table read.

That's what I'm suggesting to the MACBETH GOES SOCIAL crowd (about 300 of us) and Laura just made it a whole lot more fun by demonstrating how hilarious tragedy can be! THANK YOU, Laura! She made 62 outstandingly funny Cat LOL Memes about Macbeth. The wonder of G+ amazes me!

Are you TEAM GLASGOW or TEAM SOUTH CAROLINA? Which accent will be more contagious?

Hangout with Glaswegians Reading Macbeth!

Won't it be fun to hear the opening with real Scottish accents! Then, we'll do a pick-up reading activity and see if the students from South Carolina pick up the Glasgow accent. JOIN US :D

C E L E B R A T E Shakespeare!

Will you celebrate the most read playwright? How?

How the UK will fete Shakespeare's 450th anniversary

From the article: "Britain is gearing up to celebrate the most influential, most-read playwright in history, with festivals, parades, and performances taking place around the U.K. Here's a look ahead at what's happening around the country, in the lead-up to the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth in April."  Read More at link.

Introduction
Grants from Google, The Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation, People's United Community Foundation, and the Frances R. Dewing Foundation have allowed my nonprofit, BIG FUN education, to create BIG Plays for K-12. Students listen to an audio play while following an illustrated script on screen. Related nonfiction pieces, acting exercises, and discussion prompts are embedded in the scripts. 40 academic words are targeted in each play and have clickable explanations. We motivate and scaffold students towards cross-curricular knowledge and bring the text exemplars in Appendix B of the CCSS to life. www.BigFunEducation.org

I started desktop publishing with a Mac in 1985. I created and sold a series of plays and related board games called Classic Theater for Children. After coverage in the New York Times  and the International Herald Tribune, we sold to all 50 states and 10 other countries. In 1991, I sold the company to Sundance Publishers. Recently, the rights reverted to me.

In 2009, I created an online motivational learning community for Connecticut. We had almost 70,000 paid subscribers and reliably raised test scores. 20% of our players stayed on our site for over an hour. 6% of our target demographic was enrolled. We gamified the work ethic and taught basic skills. People's United Community Foundation funded our initiative to reduce the loss of skills over the last two summers.
