Suspicion, Family, and a High School play
Instead of accusing her step-father of murdering her father, our heroine, Danah, helps her daughter study Hamlet and then asks her mother a whole lot of questions. Bit by bit, a family secret is exposed. As a result, a grandmother, a mother and a daughter grow so much closer and wiser.
Each of these women, in their way, play an aspect of Hamlet as this novel unfolds. The grandmother protects her second husband, the mother feels betrayed and goes a little crazy, the granddaughter is cast as Hamlet in the high school play.
By the way, this is a still of my mother from a British film called Murder at 3 am [1953].

I Can See Clearly Now, Lorraine Has Gone!
Learning from comedians

I learned that mistakes can be very funny. (Apologies to all Plussers called Lorraine, btw.)

Admit your own misheard lyrics below and give us a laugh if you like!

Gift
Just received this hand-painted scarf. The artist is a friend of my mum's and has already filled her walls, so she turned to this. I'm glad she did!

Introduction
Grants from Google, The Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation, People's United Community Foundation, and the Frances R. Dewing Foundation have allowed my nonprofit, BIG FUN education, to create Common Core PLAYS for K-12. Students listen to an audio play while following an illustrated script on screen. Related nonfiction pieces, acting exercises, and discussion prompts are embedded in the scripts. 40 academic words are targeted in each play and have clickable explanations. We motivate and scaffold students towards cross-curricular knowledge and bring the text exemplars in Appendix B of the CCSS to life. www.BigFunEducation.org

I started desktop publishing with a Mac in 1985. I created and sold a series of plays and related board games called Classic Theater for Children. After coverage in the New York Times  and the International Herald Tribune, we sold to all 50 states and 10 other countries. In 1991, I sold the company to Sundance Publishers. Recently, the rights reverted to me.

In 2009, I created an online motivational learning community for Connecticut. We had almost 70,000 paid subscribers and reliably raised test scores. 20% of our players stayed on our site for over an hour. 6% of our target demographic was enrolled. We gamified the work ethic and taught basic skills. People's United Community Foundation funded our initiative to reduce the loss of skills over the last two summers.
