Question: what do y'all think of video explainers. You know, where a website has video explaining what they do, or who they are.

Love 'em? Loathe 'em?

Demo vids are my favourite. Promos my least. I'm sure that applies to everyone.

So who has switched over to the new and "improved" version of G+?

Gotta say, I've been using it for about 5 minutes and already hate it. Especially the way comments on condensed posts constantly change... too busy and distracting like multiple gifs on a page.

It's now also 2 clicks to +1 a post. More work and no need.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Ask An INTJ  -

Question: what are your thoughts on video explainers?

Personally, I hate them. I don't like having to sit through [X] amount of video to be drip-fed information that I could get in 2 seconds from reading copy instead.

However, video still proves to be an incredibly effective marketing platform.

Is this an N thing, where we just want the general gist and, if we're interested in that, we'll follow up on the details. Or are y'all part of the seemingly large majority who love their video content.

That said - video "How To's". Love 'em. Totally practical. But if you're just wanting to explain your services, or your top tips for "whatever", please don't make me sit through 10 minutes of video when I could scan a transcript in 2.

Thoughts?

Love this response by a client to the following question in my Project Brief:

Who are your main competitors?
People’s self-limiting beliefs

Great when people's minds think outside the box. Had another one a while ago where the brief asked:

How do people usually find your business?
Very good

Have since changed "find" to "locate"  :)

Anyone else had interesting interpretations of brief questions?

+Rebecca Carroll-Bell - no. I send it saying "if anything is unclear, give me a call".

Usually I have enough other stuff going on that I'm not going to keep chasing up for the basics. If they're serious about their project, they'll get it sorted.

Some great advice shared by +Perry Bernard if your New Year involves revamping or rebuilding your website.

It's a new year and a lot of businesses are reviewing their online presence.

There are many reasons why you might want to rebuild your website, but I presume that the main purpose of your website rebuild is to help generate business leads more effectively. Pretty much every rebuild I’ve seen has been for the right reasons – and trust me, there are plenty of great reasons, but the business owner really should do due diligence and seek out good advice before going ahead, and also look carefully at investing in SEO services during the rebuild process.

If you're one such business owner than I highly recommend my best practices checklist: https://crankedseo.com/rebuilding-your-website/
