You've probably marveled at a cat's reaction to catnip - rolling around in it, zoning out, or flipping out. But catnip isn't just for cats. It doesn't seem to make humans want to roll around or flip out, but does have a few other surprising uses.

No longer able to get refills for hydrocodone, patients are forced to see a doctor each time they need more of the pain killer. It’s a process that appears to have cut hydrocodone abuse, but that’s only part of the story.

Have you taken the plunge? Now that winter's chill has set in, it's prime polar bear plunging season. Some take the plunge for charity, others to celebrate winter, and some just for the thrill of it. It can be a thrilling experience, but for some, it can also be dangerous.

Help CARE Survey Understand Nutritional Needs of Cancer Survivors

A few months ago, I reported on a study that showed Cancer Survivors Aren’t Eating as Well as They Should. As a survivor myself, I was quite surprised at the results.

The study's author, Dr. Fang Fang Zhang, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, is heading up new research to delve a little deeper into the eating habits of cancer survivors. The researchers want to learn more about the challenges they face in making healthy food choices.

They need your help! The survey takes only about 10-15 minutes, but those few minutes will go a long way toward advancing research on how to meet the nutritional needs of the growing population of cancer survivors.

Sixty-five percent of Americans report having symptoms of digital eyestrain. And it's no wonder. Almost 60 percent of us use digital devices for more than five hours a day, and 70 percent of use more than two devices at a time.

Breastfeeding Benefits Infants, Moms, and World Economies, Say Researchers: What if there was one thing that could prevent death, improve health, and boost the economy? Breastfeeding is that thing, according to researchers. We’re talking about 820,000 deaths prevented each year, and a savings to the global economy of $300 billion. That is, if we could lift breastfeeding rates, especially in high-income countries like the US and the UK.

A recent study suggests that healthy food labels may be contributing to obesity. It’s a problem that can be compounded when unhealthy foods are labeled as healthy.

New recommendations for breast cancer screenings have some experts concerned. What the updated guidelines mean for women’s healthcare is up for debate, and there’s a lot we still don’t know.
