+Mike Perry Thank you for the memory of wonderful stone walls in England! Here are some we encountered in 1971. Driving on what seemed the "wrong" side of the road and encountering other cars and occasional sheep was a bit unnerving but a great adventure nonetheless.

+Mike Perry Thank you for the memories of those wonderful roads! I would think there might be efforts to preserve the walls since they seem to be a national treasure in many ways. In New England here they are valued and it requires quite a skill to keep them maintained and repaired. It is fascinating to watch someone choose and stack the stones in just the right way so the wall stays sturdy.

Introduction
Inspired by a 40 year written correspondence between my mother and grandmother, this is a blog of letters which chronicle the life of one American family. The collection of nearly 2000 letters, notes and cards contain photos, clippings and comments on everyday life, beginning in 1941.  I hope you find something of interest!  Please begin your visit by clicking on the tab, Understanding the Blog.
