How I write.. fun interview with +Kelton Reid +Copyblogger.
In this episode I’ve invited digital marketing pioneer Ann Handley to chat with me about her writing process. She’s a Wall Street Journal bestselling author, brilliant keynote speaker, the world’s first Chief Content Officer, and a prolific digital content creator. Ann Handley appeared on the written interview series last year and stopped by again toPlay Episode

I wrote #everybodywrites   to appeal to pretty much ANYONE who communicates -- hence the title, because Everybody DOES Write. Which is why this book review and strong recommendation for scientists does my heart good!

"Everybody Writes," the second book by +Ann Handley  (of +MarketingProfs fame), never says a word about the life sciences, biotech, or anything else you might expect to find here. But, it's one of the best texts out there for how scientists can improve their writing. Read more about the book on the Filament blog, and grab a copy for yourself. http://www.filamentcommunications.com/everybody-writes-a-guide-to-life-science-communication/

The news broke yesterday that LinkedIn has agreed to buy online education site Lynda.com for $1.5 billion, in a you-pick-two deal of 52 percent cash and 48 percent stock. It’ll close later this year.Lynda is LinkedIn’s 13th acquisition and its most expensive. Last year, it paid $175 million for Bizo, a Web application that helps connect advertisers with the people they want to reach. And most of its other 11 acquisitions have been in that vein, t...

Last week's #MarTech looked like a fantastic event. If you missed it (like I did), my friend +Scott Brinker put together the highlight reel.... (figuratively speaking).

Wow. Last week’s MarTech Conference was an awe-inspiring two and a half days for me. I am immensely grateful to the 29 speakers, 67 exhibitors and sponsors, and over 1,100 attendees who joined together in San Francisco to share their experiences and ideas on the state of marketing technology. It is springtime in martech, and …

In this series, professionals share what they'd do differently — and keep the same. Follow the stories here and write your own (please use #IfIWere22 in your post). When I was 22, I was newly installed in a new position in a brand-new career, fresh from college. I was working as a business journalist, and it was my first job, unless I count working the window at Jack in the Box. Which I don’t.When I look back on it, I like to think that I was thou...

You know that record-scratch sound effect? You hear it in a movie when suddenly the momentum stops dead. That's what happens when throw the bad kind of jargon at your customers.

In this series, professionals reflect on their inevitable career mistakes. Follow the stories here and write your own (please include #BestMistake in your post). A lot of people will say they were shy children. You might say that about yourself, too.You might recount things like “I hid behind my mother’s legs” or “I could never talk to strangers.”But when I was a child, I took shy to a new height — to whatever is beyond shy. Perpetually fearful, ...
