According to +Arthur M - "Everyone is addicted to it"

I launched my first indie game today. It’s called Freak Factory and of course I think it’s fabulous. It’s suitable for all ages, is available on Apple & Android phones & tablets, and it is free to download and play - there’s an option to pay inside the game but you can play without paying.

Unlike big budget games you will have heard of, we have to generate an audience from scratch and with no marketing budget. So please download the game (from http://www.freakfactorygame.com/play), tell all your friends, and give the game a five-star rating.

Thanks.

+Gary Rowe - thought you'd like to know that I actually bought something with Bitcoins!

The Voltage Village contains all the materials you need to make two glowing paper houses using Electric Paint.  This fun activity is great for makers of all ages. The easy step-by-step instructions will show you how to decorate and assemble each house, draw a circuit with Electric Paint and attach components.  As the light fades your houses will start to glow! Assemble the scenery and create your very own Voltage Village. Use your Glowing House S...

Sooo, lazyweb - if you were thinking of starting to develop B2B mobile apps (mostly data visualisation and decision making tools), which way would you go, native, Flex mobile, or HTML (or a mix), and why?

We've got a fair few Flex developers, but we're starting to write some of our new web apps in HTML/JS.  We could probably invest in some training for iOS/Android development (initial investigations suggest most of our customers are leaning one way).  Is there anything to be gained from using tools like PhoneGap?

Flex is a dead end for mobile. But AIR can be made performant with pure AS3. I would take a look at Feathers and Starling if you don't want to stray.

I've often found that when I've sat in front of a computer screen all evening, I have trouble getting off to sleep - when I was at try {harder} I had an interesting discussion with +Richard Lord about how the blueish light from the monitor interfered with your circadian rhythm. Richard recommended f.lux - an app which changes the colour temperature of your monitor so that it gets warmer after sunset. I'm trying it at the mo, let's see if it works!

There's a download link on this page too - it's available for Mac, Windows, Linux and iOS (but not Android yet, boo!)
Software to warm up your computer display at night, to match your indoor lighting.

Ohhh let me know how you get on with it. It sounds interesting. I wonder if it could help SAD. I don't completely have it I don't think, but it definitely is not a time I enjoy when it's darker.

I especially like the 1 week estimate row - I am really trying to fight that impulse to estimate on what I think other people will think about my estimate versus being (as) realistic (as is possible when estimating)

:D

ESTIMATE THE PROGRAMMER THINKS: 5 minutes.
It’s a minor thing, I just have to look up the exact syntax on google and fix it.

WHAT THE PROGRAMMER FORGOT:
It’s quite rare to find exactly the right information on the first try. Even if it is found, it probably needs some adjustments before it works. Add time for building, testing etc.

ACTUAL TIME: 2 hours

An experienced project manager I used to work with claimed that he took the programmers' time estimates, multiplied by pi and converted to the next time magnitude to get the true number. 1 day convert...

Came across this tool ages ago, the company was acquired by Akamai and I've finally found it again.

Not sure it is "the" one, but it does use D3, yes :-)
Ian Watkins pointed it out to me, I'd not seen it before.

Great location in Bristol, a good city centre Youth Hostel. Our toilet leaked unfortunately! We made the trip to spend the day at @Bristol, which is a couple of minutes walk away.

Beautiful location and lovely views. Clean and tidy. Bathroom was a bit poky and the bedrooms could do with a bit of an update - the kitchen cupboard doors were also hung the wrong way round! Very minor quibbles though we had a lovely stay and there is lots to see and do, or just walk down to the beach!
