A step by step guide to setting up post ads on +Google+

How to Set Up Google+ +Post ads: A Guide

+Ben Fisher of +Steady Demand has put together a quick guide to walk you through the steps of setting up Google+ +Post ads in Adwords.

Please share this guide far and wide, as the new "Engagement Ads" (as Google is calling them inside AdWords) are a new interface that will be unfamiliar even to experienced AdWords users.

Also, in the opening section, Ben reveals some things about follower numbers that will be very helpful, as some pages were noticing they couldn't use +Post Ads even though they had more than 1000 followers. There are a few hidden qualifiers.

For more on what +Post ads are about, see my article on LinkedIn at http://stonet.co/1gDc7Jb and one by +Eric Enge on Forbes at http://stonet.co/1pcQmJp

If a G+ Page +1's still matter to your clients... This is a great tool. #googleplus

Sweet Tip! Get the Google+ Social Proof Number of Any G+ Page
Quick, easy way to view a Page's total +1's

We got this from +Dejan SEO's amazing "Comprehensive Study of Google Plus Content and Brand Visibility* (see it at stonet.co/1gCZON4)

When Google+ introduced view counts two weeks ago, they took away the visible total +1 count that used to appear in the cover image of brand Pages. That number was a useful "social proof" number, as it represented a sum of all the brands followers, +1's (on posts and on it's site), members in owned communities, and others.

The number still exists though, and is displayed on the official Google+ Badge on a brand's website, if they display it. But as +Dan Petrovic pointed out, you can use Google's Google+ Badge Tool to quickly get the number for any page on G+:

1. Go to the Google+ Badge Tool: https://developers.google.com/+/web/badge/#badge
2. Change Google+ User to "other"
3. Enter the page's URL

The page's total +1 number will appear in the preview image for the badge.

If you found this tip useful, please reshare. Thanks!

O SNAP! Hot changes to Google Analitics rolling out next week.
1. Analyze app and web data in the same reporting view
2. Measure web apps

... wait. Did I just say "HOT" and "Analytics" in the same sentence? Omg. My geek speak is out of control.

Understanding User Behavior in a Multi-Device World

In this constantly connected world, users can interact with your business across many digital touchpoints: websites, mobile apps, web apps, and other digital devices. So to help you understand what users do in the increasingly diverse digital landscape, we’re enabling you to view web and app data from the same reporting view. This will be rolling out to all accounts over the next week.

Analyze app and web data in the same reporting view
Any data you send to the same property appears in all of the reporting views, regardless of how you collected that data. This means that if you send data from the web or from a mobile app to one property, both data sets appear in your reports.

If you want to isolate data from one source, like if you only want to see web data in your reports, you can set up a filter to customize what you see. You can also use other tools to isolate each data set, including customizations in standard reports, dashboards, custom reports, and secondary dimensions.

Measure web apps
We’ve also added some new app-specific fields to the analytics.js JavaScript web collection library, including screen name, app name, app version, and exception tracking. These changes allow the JavaScript tracking code to take advantage of the app tracking framework, so you can more accurately collect data on your web apps.

How these changes affect you
This product change can affect you in different ways, based on how your account is set up and what kind of data you collect and send to Google Analytics.

The Visitors web metric and Active Users app metric are now unified under the same name, Users. And, Visits are now referred to as Sessions everywhere in all of Google Analytics. We’ll be making these changes starting today, and rolling them out incrementally over the next week.

If you collect and send both web and app hits to one property in your Google Analytics account, all your hits will appear in all your reporting views starting today. If you want to keep your web and app data separate, you need to add a filter to your reporting views.

If you don’t send web and app data to the same property in your account, your data stays the same.

Everyone, however,  will see the unified metric, dimension, and segment names in their reports.

Until today, some metrics and dimensions used different names in app views and in web views, even though they presented the exact same data. Now, all metric, dimensions, and segment names are the same, regardless if they’re used for web or app data. This gives you a clear and consistent way to analyze and refer to all of your Google Analytics data.

Our developer site has more information on these changes:

5 Ways Small Businesses Can Make A Big Impact On Social Media

I love the way this article begins:

"I’m going to pull the rug out from under you right quick: There is no magic hat trick for making your small business successful on social media."

This is absolutely true. Any social media professional will tell you that it's not about a single tip or even a handful of tips that will make your social media impact worth the effort. What will make it worthwhile is:

Consistency
Planning
Being Helpful
Listening (no, really listening)
The right channels (not every channel)

Read the full post here: http://dustn.ws/1t5peLM

One thing I tell my clients is that above all, be consistently helpful. That sort of combines two of the principles listed in the article from +Social Media Today but an unspoken rule of being consistently helpful is that it takes listening on the right channels and then planning accordingly.

Do you agree with these principles for social media success?

How to disable video ad autoplay on #Facebook. YES. Thank you +ReelSEO

Facebook introduced video ads, and of course, they made them auto play. We show you how to turn off auto play videos as much as possible through the standard web browser interface and the main mobile apps on Android and iOS. It's not all 100% thing on mobiles, but at least you can cut down on it. However, you will need to do it for each device and browser you access Facebook through.
