Living with limited means in an impoverished #Palestinian refugee camp didn't stop Mirna's family from taking in a disabled orphan named Salim when he showed up at their doorstep. Today, Mirna's family is making money off sorting and selling recyclables as part of our solid waste management project. "I support my family with the money," says Mirna, "and we use this to buy medical supplies for Salim.”

"Working the sea is something we inherited from our forefathers. It runs in our blood," says Mamdouh. Before the blockade, he was a successful fisherman with two motorboats. But with 95% of #Gaza fishermen living below the poverty line, Mamdouh has had to find other jobs to make ends meet.

"Life is hard. We did not expect to end up like this."
