To what degree you will trust your project's host?

Mitigate this risk by

1. Become authoritative, have a project domain
2. Reduce hotlinking
3. Reduce tombstones, delete project pages if you leave a host.
4. Always Maintain.

By the way, author mentioned a nice paper on software security.

5 Reasons to Use Protocol Buffers Instead of JSON For Your Next Service

Reason #1: Schemas Are Awesome
Reason #2: Backward Compatibility For Free
Reason #3: Less Boilerplate Code
Reason #4: Validations and Extensibility
Reason #5: Easy Language Interoperability

Service-Oriented Architecture has a well-deserved reputation amongst Ruby and Rails developers as a solid approach to easing painful growth by extracting concerns from large applications. These new, smaller services typically still use Rails or Sinatra, and use JSON to communicate over HTTP.

Better rethink the approach to API architecture, the conclusion:

1. API first before anything, like WebDev, Mobile and Wearable.
2. Using Hypermedia. Do use constraint of REST. If your API has endpoints like /api/v1/resource to indicate different documents, somethings is likely wrong.
3. Design for Human first.

Hm...that's it?  I hope he could show more examples about it.

PS. From +Luca Luve  suggestion. We should take a look at HATEOAS.

Everyday the web becomes more connected; not just in the sense of more nodes, more people, and more content, but in the sense of being interconnected. Web services and APIs (Application Program Interfaces) allow access to an application's features, usually for integration into other applications ...

Let's Encrypt TSL will be started very soon, but you can get involved now by trying the free certificate for your server. If you don't understand how it works, please check Letsencrypt page.

#ssl
Let’s Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate authority brought to you by the Internet Security Research Group (ISRG). ISRG is a California public benefit corporation, and is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Backend <===Protobuf===>Frontend

Protobuf have a few advantages over JSON:
1. smaller in size
2. typed
3. offer a common interface for all your services, you can just update your .proto or .thrift and share those with the services using it, as long as there is a library for that language

#protobuf   #json   #webdevelopment
Protobuf (or others tools like Thrift) are often used to communicate between services. Let's see how it would work to use it between a server and a JavaScript frontend

I will buy this light. It's amazing.
PS. It costs £40,000 and needs one metre of space above the ceiling.
