This is really REALLY bad.
And the fact that it passed the national Voting Systems Standards terrifies me.

I've often seen people claim that these systems should be open source, so that the code can be audited.  That's probably a good idea, but wouldn't actually have helped here.  The final configuration can't be open (passwords, etc), and even if the software is all open it will probably still be incompetently configured.
Virginia decertifies device that used weak passwords and wasn't updated in 10 years.

Keeps voters safe. Alleviates any need for violence to coerce votes. Why can't we just use the American Idol infrastructure for mobile e-voting? Candidates might need some vocal training though.

I'm sad Stargate SG1 isn't on there.  That ran quite a while and I'm curious where it lands compare to others.
And Farscape, and Babylon 5.
Last month on TOPTEN, we crunched a few numbers to make a handy guide to TV marathons. We're flattered to find that folks found it life-changing–even life-saving. We're just glad to share the love of TV! Others, however, noted that there are a lot more than 25 TV shows out there to binge-watch.

B5 and Farscape are two shows I'll go back to every couple years and re-watch.  It's been a while for both, but I'm also way behind on newer shows so I don't know if I'll get any more chances to do it.

Click through and read the whole thing.
It's basically insurance commercial fan fiction.
And it's amazing.

Square Enix has sent out the first official photos of their next two Star Wars Play Arts Variant Figures. Back in December, we saw the amazing looking Play Arts Variant Darth Vader, and now he is getting two new allies. Redesigned versions of Boba Fett and a Stormtrooper are joining the party, and we have new pics and some info to check out. The Boba Fett will include interchangeable hands, a heavy blast, a pistol, knives, flamethrower effect, je...

This is an amazingly well-done "how it's made" video, all about the process by which aluminum beverage cans get built. These cans are so common that we rarely look at them, but they're a marvel of engineering: to save material (important, when you're making hundreds of billions a year!) they're made almost as thin as paper, and when they're empty, they easily crumple to save space while recycling. Yet when full, they can support 6 atmospheres of pressure inside and are sturdy enough to stand on -- and it only takes a single pull of a tab to change one into the other.

+engineerguy does a fantastic job of explaining the whole story, with everything from example parts to animations that show exactly how the subtle steps work.

h/t +Jordan Peacock for finding this!

I started playing Bloodborne over the weekend.
I can say the first three panels of this comic are 100% accurate.  I cannot yet speak to the accuracy of the last panel.

I wandered into this place over the weekend just to browse around and ended up leaving with a few new games. The guys there were incredibly helpful and friendly, and did their best to make sure we were getting games we'd actually enjoy. The games were a bit less expensive than in most places too, which was a nice bonus! They also have a cool trade-in system where you can bring in your own games to swap for any (of equal value) on their used game wall. Even cooler, they have a big wall of demo copies of games that you can borrow for a few days to try out.

We got delivery from them at work and everything was very tasty. Especially the Chongqing fried dry hot chicken, which was exceptionally spicy and tasty.
