I’ve been shooting infrared now for several years. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot various cameras converted into infrared over that time, and have come away with varying degrees of success, both due to my increasing (I wo...

+Andy Garcia Thank you. I have several Expodiscs and I will try one. You are correct the 820 nm does not pass any color and now is my favorite. I love the contast and the Wood effect. If you have the opportunity try it. I got a good price on eBay on a couple. I am just learning but it is interesting to see how the Faux color changes depending on the White balance and the intensity of the sun. Also exposure and saturation of the image seems to be important. There are not many books on the subject and not many websites.

Ever since discovering the technique to widen the white balance settings in LR thru the Adobe DNG editor, I've been going back and re-editing older raw images and processing them through the Nik Color Efex filter. Having a ton of fun! So many possibilities now. In this case, I did the channel swap, then applied the Nik Polarizer, Indian Summer, and Detail Enhancer filters.

Hi +Paul O'Neill, are you referring to expanding the white balance using the DNG editor? If so, see this video.

590nm with color swap, then four filters in Nik Color Efex 4 (contrast color range, polarizer, detail enhancer, & reflective Efex).

From a recent drive up the Florida coast. It isn't much compared to the rocky coast of Maine or the west coast of the country, but it works for me. Click on the image to see the gallery.

Another from my lunchtime drive by shooting series. A yellow Royal Poinciana in full bloom, as seen in 590nm, and treated to the PS channel swap, and one of my favorite Nik Color Efex recipes...

Taken at CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Shot with a 590nm converted Lumix GX1 and processed in LR, Photoshop, Nik Silver Efex and Color Efex 4 (to add "Reflective Efex filter). My intent was to simulate a deep BW IR filter using the raw file from the LifePixel supercolor (590nm) filter.

One of my favorite ways to capture an IR image is to shoot through the trees on a crisp clear day with a cloudless sky.  Fortunately this is exactly what is plentiful this time of year in South Florida.

My processing steps were a channel mixer swap of the blue channel only.  Actually I used a Kolarivision action to do just that, then followed by a hue adjustment on the blue channel.  The base image was taken with a Lumix GX1 converted with a 590nm filter.

Just another guy with a camera - South Florida
Introduction
A South Florida based photographer with a passion for local wildlife and Everglades landscapes. The weather in South Florida is great year round, and affords me an opportunity to enjoy varied landscapes with dramatic clouds, my favorites.

I'm by no means a "pro", nor do I have any interest in "going pro". I'm just another guy with a camera, or two, that's blessed to have a day job that allows me to enjoy photography purely for the fun of it.

Thanks for looking through the galleries. I hope you like what you find. - Andy
