Hello everyone!

Today marks five days until our Make Chewing Gum from Scratch! Class, which will be hosted this Friday, March 20th at 7:30 pm at MakerBar's lounge.

Learn the history of chewing gum and how to make it using chicle base and flavorings to make your own exciting gums. We will cover sugared and sugar free gum (using artificial sweeteners like Stevia). Materials are all included.

This is a fun and quick 1-hour class, so why not take it prior to starting (or continuing) your hacking projects? For details and how to sign up, visit the event's meetup page: http://www.meetup.com/MakerBar/events/218934905/

Sign up today! Hope to see you there.

Even as far back at 5,000 years ago the act of chewing tree sap and resins found in trees has been common in the Americas. Today, the United States is the world's leading manufacturer of gum (go figure!).  Believe it or not, chewing gum is actually beneficial. Greetings, human! Arduino is a cheap and tiny computer that can become anything from a robot's brain to a guitar pedal. And even if you are new to computers, with Arduino, you can make something cool.

Never coded? No worries. We will walk you through the basics of making amazing stuff with Arduino. Even if you've never written code or connected a component, you'll leave with a great project, and be inspired to make another.

Admission price includes three-hour workshop and component pack and pumpkin.

Since it is close to Halloween we will be including how to make a proximity sensing light for your pumpkin and a Cylon type scanner (see: latest Battlestar Galactica).

Andy Fundinger, 10/13/14 7:07 AM. Mike Lowry and I are presenting this year's edition of Arduino for Spooky lifeforms the weekend before Halloween. If you haven't made it before and are looking to get started with Arduino, this is a fun, seasonal way to get started.

Zipped right through on a license renewal and found everyone to be in good cheer. They were definitely bored, so a sense of humor helped.
