We think a fair day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay – but too many people around the world are working endlessly with little reward. Small scale farmers are getting a raw deal on the produce they sell. Too many women and men are unable to put food on the table, because they’re poorly paid or don’t have secure work. Meanwhile, the super-rich get richer by the second. It’s time for change. We’ve got to tackle inequality and even it up, with fair pay for all.
We believe in a fairer world, where hard work pays off. SHARE if you agree.

About time...

The Palestinian flag is raised for the first time at United Nations Headquarters in New York. “This is a day of hope,” said Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as he attended the ceremony, along with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

“Now is the time to restore confidence by both Israelis and Palestinians for a peaceful settlement and, at last, the realization of two states for two peoples. I sincerely hope that a successful peace process will soon yield a day when we unfurl the Palestinian flag in its proper place – among the family of nations as a sovereign Member State of the United Nations,” added the Secretary-General.

Swindon Area Green Party member (and press officer) Andy Bentley talks about the importance of putting your energies - and votes - into the politics you want, rather than settling for politics that are not quite as bad as the politics you hate.

"... I should have planted something else 30 years ago, and spent my time nurturing that. Put your efforts into the Green Party. Water it, feed it, look after it, help it to grow. VOTE for it. If you vote Green this time you might not get the result you want. If you DON'T vote green you never will. There are other people out there waiting to follow your lead..."

It’s exactly two weeks until polling day, and all the party manifestos are out!

Based on the promises they’ve made in those, we’ve given them a report card.

Remember, we’ve looked specifically at those areas relating to our pre-election campaigns, and not graded them on past performance.

But this is how the party pledges stack up on fish, energy & climate, and the natural environment. What do you think?

How can the green get 5/5 on energy, given their policies on nuclear power (i don't know the policies that well, but I'm fairly sure the green party are against it)?

UKIP scores look about right to me though ;-)

First visit here and certainly won't be my last: the venue is fantastic and the food excellent. I was taken to the Weighbridge to celebrate by birthday. Picked because we knew that it was renovated and run by the people who own the Three Crowns in Brinkworth - and we knew that the food there is some of the best in the area by some way. The decor and furnishing was done to a high quality and very stylish and the atmosphere was very good. The downstairs is a large area that would be fantastic for a larger party: light and airy with a great buzz going on. We opted to sit upstairs, which has a cosier, more intimate feel that I'd recommend for a couple out on a date. The food & wine didn't disappoint either, the only tricky bit was having to choose only one thing from the menu - I'll have to go back just to try the others! There was a good selection of wines and food to please everyone. The food was top-notch, as expected. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection. You can see a sample menu on their web site - well worth a look. I had the venison on a bed of mustard mash, which was gorgeous. I'll be back.
