It’s exactly two weeks until polling day, and all the party manifestos are out!

Based on the promises they’ve made in those, we’ve given them a report card.

Remember, we’ve looked specifically at those areas relating to our pre-election campaigns, and not graded them on past performance.

But this is how the party pledges stack up on fish, energy & climate, and the natural environment. What do you think?

How can the green get 5/5 on energy, given their policies on nuclear power (i don't know the policies that well, but I'm fairly sure the green party are against it)?

UKIP scores look about right to me though ;-)

Feeling somewhat betrayed today. I've posted many times here and elsewhere about how great it felt to be with +Ecotricity, I've recommended them to friends (and got the voucher to prove it). But that stops today.

Trumpeting their support for "green labour" they have today decided to back the Labour Party to the tune of a quarter of a million pounds. Oh what the actual +The Green Party could do with such a sum.

Instead of backing a party that truly holds dear the values that Ecotricity claim to support they are funding the campaign to oppose them, helping to claw back a few of those voters who have left the Labour Party due to their lurch to the right and weak support for green policies.

The failure of Labour to oppose fracking is still just days past, yet here are "frack free" Ecotricity climbing into bed with them.

Reading the original article, edited on Facebook to react to the horrified response by customers, the cynic in me can't help thinking that it's merely an attempt to protect their business interests, as Labour are undoubtedly less hostile to wind farms than the Tories. No glory here, just hoping to buy an easier life after May.

What really irks though is the trumpeting of the "green labour" moniker. Being "not as bad as Eric Pickles" does not give them the right to wear that green badge, that honour belongs to the Green Party, whose supporters have been dragging the other parties kicking and screaming toward the recognition of climate change, care for the environment and support for those renewables on which Dale Vince has built his company.

That green badge is ours, and we've earned it.
Britain’s leading green energy company, Ecotricity, is donating £250,000 to the Labour Party’s election campaign. Ecotricity founder Dale Vince sai...

This is so wrong...

Breaking news: you’re now living in a world where the 80 richest people – that’s just one busload – own the same amount of wealth as half of the world’s population!

OK Internet, I have a job for you...

Having moved office our company is looking for meeting room names. Rather than "planets from Star Wars" or "Dickens characters" I thought famous women in mathematics or IT. My list so far is:
- Ada Lovelace
- Grace Hopper
- Radia Perlman
But that's a bit, well, American.

Us Brits must have some names to match that, right? My Google fu just isn't up to finding them.

Suggestions please?

And yes, I have a vested interest; as father who looks forward to seeing his daughter's name on that list one day.

Good idea. And all pin codes of the room have to be a prime number.

Nice one Scotland.

Yes! Go Scotland!

Today, the Scottish minister for energy Fergus Ewing stood before the Scottish Parliament and said "I'm announcing today a moratorium [open-ended ban] on the granting of planning consents for all unconventional oil and gas developments."

There's still work to do to turn this temporary ban into an outright ban, but for now this is brilliant news!

First visit here and certainly won't be my last: the venue is fantastic and the food excellent. I was taken to the Weighbridge to celebrate by birthday. Picked because we knew that it was renovated and run by the people who own the Three Crowns in Brinkworth - and we knew that the food there is some of the best in the area by some way. The decor and furnishing was done to a high quality and very stylish and the atmosphere was very good. The downstairs is a large area that would be fantastic for a larger party: light and airy with a great buzz going on. We opted to sit upstairs, which has a cosier, more intimate feel that I'd recommend for a couple out on a date. The food & wine didn't disappoint either, the only tricky bit was having to choose only one thing from the menu - I'll have to go back just to try the others! There was a good selection of wines and food to please everyone. The food was top-notch, as expected. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection. You can see a sample menu on their web site - well worth a look. I had the venison on a bed of mustard mash, which was gorgeous. I'll be back.
