I read this paper a few days ago. It is just the MDA framework with a swapped for emotion. It even says so in the text. I need to read it again, as I am not sure what the point is :-(

Really interesting on the vote - here the more busy design is the clear winner. On facebook the simple one is the favorite. How about these?

2 is much better than your previous suggestion in my opinion. More modern type face and I like the simplified hexagon very  much. I don't like the text here on the cover. It just makes it crowded and without reading your book no one will understand it at the first glance. So this will be more confusing than helpful.

You might want to tray another alternative: The whole cover in green background with the hexagon only stylized through white lines.

Thinking I need to split Simulations out from under serious games in my Game Thinking "taxonomy". The decision tree thing I made has made me realise that they can be really quite different and I only lumped them together for convenience!

So. I am working on a ReBoot of my book from 2012. I say reboot as it is not a completely new book - more a new edition - but with LOADS of updates. Anyway. I was working on a new cover, and wanted to get your opinions on them. Which do you think is best, if any. If not - any suggestions? Thanks :)

All good. Only think I won't change is the colour combo of the Hexad. Rest is up for grabs. Word cloud was a play thing for me. I do t want to just have the hexagon though as that makes it look a little too similar in design to the Octalysis book.

Logo on the front, yeah - was more a brand thing than anything else.

Subtitle I am struggling with. Simple introduction is no longer true (though it has sold 1300 copies or so with that subtitle). I don't have a USP other than the types and I don't want it to be about them. They are just a part of the overall book. The book is really just a general book about gamification compiled from blogs, the old book and some other bits that will tie it all together. Mmm.

Introduction

I’m a web designer by trade since 2000, now working as the Intranet Webmaster at Capgemini UK. Whilst I have achieved a high level of expertise in this, these days my areas of interest and passion revolve around the exciting worlds of Gamification, Social Media, Technology and Video Games.

I am amazed every day by how much is happening in these fields and enjoy feeling part of this. I blog on a weekly basis about Gamification, social media and other side topics. I write about video games on my games review website (Yet Another Review Site running since 2006) and in 2012 I also self published a short eBook on gamification –Gamification: A Simple Introduction.
