App update - Google Keep This update is also available over on the web version Google Keep. The update brings all the settings are available in the navigation menu. Previously they'd be found in the overflow menu.

The update for Google Keep is available via this link - https://goo.gl/NHBnMm - and the screenshot below shows you that you'll get a reminder of the new way to do things when you open the app.

App update - Google Maps To help give those that read reviews more of an idea as to what your experience was like the latest update to Google Maps now allows you to add pictures to the text. Pictures will still show up at the top of the reviews but this is quite a nice way of bringing your review to life a little.

When you're out and about the Timeline feature is a brilliant way of looking back over your travels and is a good way of keeping track on where you've been. With this update you can now add a place and add a label to particular places such as a friends house or your Nan and Granted's. If you're adding a business you can search or add one of it's missing to help bring your timeline up to date.

Google Maps is for some the perfect navigational tool. I use it instead of my sat nav and with an unlimited data plan it's perfect to help me get to and from. If you're taking a call whilst in navigation mode you don't want to have directions blasting out mid call so you can now toggle this on and off as you see fit.

Quite like the adding pics to reviews and will be a nice little addition to those in the +Local Guides programme.

App update - Phone This is for those of you with a Nexus device and even then it's only bug fixes and performance improvements so nothing worth getting all excited about.

If however the likes of Sony, HTC and others released a device with the choice to run stock Android we'd all get the chance to use one of the best Phone apps out there.

Unlimited calls and texts plus 20GB of Data Add on the many number of BT hotspots and that isn't a bad deal at £16 per month. The BT Sport access adds value too.

The offer of for BT customers and goes back up to £20 on the 15th of this month. Tempted but might hang on and see what BT do with EE. If Three get O2 that could also check up some good offers.

I'm going with the Carolina Panthers for #SB50 . Meanwhile England are taking on Scotland in the #RBD6Nations and I reckon Scotland will win. Home turf and all that......

Panthers vs Broncos. I'm going with the Panthers and I'll do me best to stay up and watch it.

App update - Google Play Get an email with a plane ticket and other itinerary info Google Play will give you a lost of recommend apps to match. The option is found in the settings menu and can be turned on and off.

That's pretty much it and some of you may even have it without knowing it.

Sony Z5 and Z5 Compact available in the US They've been available elsewhere for quite a while and even though they have finally got round to releasing them in the States they arrive with no fingerprint scanner.

No fingerprint reader isn't really the be all and end of all (for Sony it isn't far off it) but it shows how ridiculously odd the Android marketplace is. There isn't any mention of the Z5 Premium which is the premium of their premium line up. Why on earth do Sony feel the need to do it?

That's not to say the likes of Samsung are any better. How many phones do they sell with how many different versions of Android?

It's simply bloody silly and for that reason I'll never be buying any device other than a Nexus. Fragmentation had its positives but the negatives like Sony and the Z5 release in the US just show how bad it can be.

For those in the US you can only pick up a GSM version. No comparability with Verizon or Sprint. You'll be asked to pay $600 for the big one and $500 for the small one.

Android Pay It's a service that has been open to the US for fair old while. Australia is next on the list for roll out but the UK shouldn't be that far behind now that you can add cards.

If you've already got cards associated with your Google account they'll show up but until your card issuer adds Android Pay and Google does the honours you'll not get any use just get.

Android UK News etc - The etc being anything Android related
Introduction
There aren't a great deal of sites out there focusing on the UK when it comes to Android so this is my bit to fill that hole.  It won't all be about the UK. Android is used the world over so I'll also be posting about Android apps and services that aren't specifically for the UK.

If you have an app or service that you'd like me to plug for you do get in touch and the same goes if you think something you've come across will be of interest.

If you circle us, please do say hello.
