App update - Starling Bank A new addition to the Starling Bank app has been released today called Settle Up. Think PayPal.me and you'll know where we're going with it.

You'll find it in the 'Pay' from the menu and after you've set it up by simply turning the option on you're ready to go. All you need to do is tap ',Settle Up' and decide how much you want to request, put in why you are asking for it in the 'What's it for' box and then share it via text, WhatsApp or other.

When you active Settle Up you'll have your own unique link which anyone can use to pay you money. It'll look something like this:
https://settleup.starlingbank.com/yourname . Whoever is paying you will have a customised page based on the details you've put in the app before sending them the link.

The great thing here is that when you want to get paid you want it in your bank account so whenever someone pays via that like it'll appear in your account, no transfering it from another app or waiting on people to login to their bank and fumbling around for your sort code and account number.

Not a Starling customer and in the UK? Check them out here - https://goo.gl/MJJC3E

RIP Android Pay Google Pay is starting to replace Android Pay. Starling Bank here in the UK have already started to make their customers aware of the change. In a push notification sent out they have advised customers that they'll have to set up their card by taking a picture of it just like when adding it to Android Pay.

Among the rebranding of the service a new feature that is set to hit the UK and US soon is the ability to request money and send money .

The update is rolling out now.

More Churches to Boost Mobile Signal At long last someone is actually getting the ball moving on fixing the dire mobile and broadband connectivity issues that plague rural areas. Not only does it put up a barrier to people getting outraged on Twitter but keeping in touch with friends and family both near and far becomes an issue. The installation of masts in church spires could also help those looking to run a business from home get up and running.

Currently there are over 100 churches that are already being used so the new accord that has been put in place by the British Digital Secretary Matt Hancock and the the Bishop of Manchester that pledges to work with UK mobile operators to have equipment installed in the 16,000 church buildings dotted around the country.

+Ofcom say that a massive 82 percent of folk living in rural areas do not have access to 4G. In comparison that number for urban areas is 36 per cent which in itself is a big number.

Work will have to be undertaken to respect the historical nature of the buildings and once completed local residents and businesses will be able to join the mobile high speed internet.

App update - Pocket Casts If Carlsberg did podcast apps this would certainly be it. The best app for listening to podcasts on your phone, tablet or desktop.

In the latest release the developers have pushed out the following updates:

Fixed the Open File option on the Now Playing Screen
- Fixed an issue where downloaded files could sometimes be queued for download again
- Fixed an issue where the app wouldn't go to the next episode in Up Next

If you follow the developers on Twitter they have been looking into the above issues for a bit and as usual along with the fix was some great user support. If you're looking for a podcast player service you won't go wrong with Pocket Casts.

The EU and Google Google's spat with the EU looks to be open-ended. Not only that but a very good point is made at the end of the article. Essentially the European Union are telling a search engine to change its results. At the same time the EU are also making a few shiny coins.

It's no shock that Vestager is not a fan of Google. She and the EU have had Google in their sights for some.severn years now and it doesn't look like they'll move on anytime soon. They might turn their attention elsewhere to another US tech giant once they get fed up.

Once any political organisation tells a search engine to alter results we should all be worried.

Pixel sits on top of the Christmas Tree Google will be rather impressed with the performance of their Pixel devices over the Christmas holiday weekend. According to Localytics. Samsung didn't do at all well with their super brilliant Note 8 and S8 lag well behind.

Whilst Apple will still be powering ahead with overall activations this will be encouraging news for Google. Over Thanksgiving there was a 12% lift in activations to 31% over the Christmas weekend.

The report is US centric but does give you a feel for how #teampixel will be fairing against its competitors. This time round Samsung and Apple won't be overly worried about these figures, to Google they will be.
