We investigated this, and we correctly close the file. For some reason Eclipse still holds it. I just created a workaround which will be merged into AA soon. https://github.com/excilys/androidannotations/pull/1110

What's new in AndroidAnnotations

First of all, AndroidAnnotations 2.5 is out!

The release notes are here: https://github.com/excilys/androidannotations/wiki/ReleaseNotes#wiki-2.5

Before getting into the release details, let's talk about conferences:

* AndroidAnnotations has been presented to the Paris Android User Group on March, 8, by Alexandre Thomas and Pierre-Yves Ricau.

* We'll present it again at Devoxxx France in a Tools In Action session (http://www.devoxx.fr/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=6128097). It will be a live refactoring, demonstrating the joy of deleting huge pieces of code thanks to AndroidAnnotations.

Interesting changes since the 2.2 release :

* We support all Android components: Service, BroadcastReceiver, ContentProvider, Application, View

* You can use annotations on any class, and they can even have the singleton scope.

* You can save your activity state with @InstanceState on fields

* Keep references to your costly objects on config changes in activities with @NonConfigurationInstance on fields

* Integration with GreenDroid

Last Sunday, I (+Pierre-Yves Ricau ) presented AndroidAnnotations at the Fosdem: http://www.fosdem.org/2012/schedule/event/androidannotations

As promised, here are the presentation artifacts:

* The slides and the code used are available on GitHub https://github.com/pyricau/fosdem-sms

* The video is attached on this post.

Fosdem was great, you should really consider going next year if you didn't make it this time. Short summary : Meeting other open source guys, watching a huge number of talks, drinking beers and not sleeping so much :)

Виталий Попов, nope. CodeModel is not in the JDK, that is another dependency, and the class is in the correct package. If you still have problems, please open an issue in GitHub or stackoverflow.

AndroidAnnotations 2.7 is out!

This release brings in a lot of improvements, as you can see here: https://github.com/excilys/androidannotations/wiki/ReleaseNotes#wiki-2.7

We fixed 42 issues, quite a magical number ;-) .

It's been quite a long time since the last release, with the summer holidays slowing down things in the middle, but we think it was worth it, this release should be rock solid!

Thanks to everyone for helping us by creating issues, asking for new features, helping others on the mailing list, on StackOverflow... You are awesome!

Last but not least, we would like to thank our contributors! Here is the contributor list on this release, sorted by commit number:

git log --format='%aN' androidannotations-2.6...androidannotations-2.7 | awk '{arr[$0]++} END{for (i in arr){print arr[i], i;}}' | sort -rn

103 Pierre-Yves Ricau
28 Mathieu Boniface
14 naixx
5 Johan Poirier
2 Pierre-Jean Vardanéga
2 Alexandre THOMAS

Thank you guys!

What's new in AndroidAnnotations

First of all: AndroidAnnotations moved to GitHub!
=> https://github.com/excilys/androidannotations

The migration is almost done, but we may forget a few things. Please don't hesitate to help us ;)!

If you are wondering why we did that, here is a short answer: http://twitter.com/AndAnnotations/status/155582605826342912
What's new in AndroidAnnotations?

Miscellaneous

- The continuous build has been broken for a short while, but thanks to CloudBees support, it's now back online: http://androidannotations.ci.cloudbees.com

- We started writing a Cookbook, with recipes to learn how to do a specific thing with AndroidAnnotations
=> https://github.com/excilys/androidannotations/wiki/Cookbook

Enhancements

- Support for @Enhanced, which allows you to annotate any custom class. This enables you to write decoupled and factorized code!

- +Ealden Escañan published the gradle-androidannotations-plugin, to let you build your AndroidAnnotations projects with Gradle. That's great, thanks man!
=> https://github.com/ealden/gradle-androidannotations-plugin

- Static builders to help you start activities, with the needed Extras. For instance:

ExampleActivity_.intent(this)
.myDateExtra(someDate)
.flags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP)
.start();
