What really impressed me yesterday at TED among other crazy ideas and challenges is Jeff Hagins and his SmartThings startup which aims to fully automate your house from outlets, to lights, kitchen and other gadgets, monitoring systems, doors, and even your dog if you will.

He is building the platform which allows other developers all over the world to write smart apps to control everything in the house.

I watched a live demo and it was just amazing.

Imagine you could have an app that controls your room light switching on/off and your kitchen kettle whenever you enter your house. Imagine if at some point, you don't want to turn on the light, but you want still want your kettle be turned on when you enter your front door.. well, just have an app for that. Do you want to know when you washing machine is leaking behind so that you can't see if that happens? Well, have an app for that.
