If anything, my life has been influenced most by music. I primarily listen to hard edged progressive rock, Rush and Dream Theater being at the top. On occasion, though, I'll break tradition and indulge myself in a bit of classical music. I'll also listen to some
Christian rock groups, among them being Skillet, Relient K and Building 429.
Along with my listening habits, I also play the french horn in the Watauga High School Symphonic Band. However, I find myself restricted to playing the mellophone (go ahead, laugh, everybody else does...) in the marching band realm. I am also in the process of learning the guitar. In addition to my present musical life, I have limited skill on the piano (very, limited.....), was at one time fairly good on the trumpet (at one time) and am quite adept at the pocket kazoo (really, it's incredible).
Aside from the musical aspects of my life, I spend my free time reading science fiction, or writing short science fiction (again, primarily themed in science fiction, space travel, etc.). Not only do I enjoy reading sci-fi, I also watch it. I am (unhealthily so) obsessed with Star Trek (truly, I am obsessed). However, I am not a TOS purist. I enjoy any of the other series's. My favorite captain is Kathryn Janeway (quick, change the page, this guy's a lunatic!!!), Data is the finest pilot who ever sat at the helm of a starship and Odo just makes me smile. My favorite doctor of the franchise (and let's be honest, it's hard to pick just one) has to be Voyager's holographic doctor (played by the genius Robert Picardo).
Now, let's all be honest with ourselves here; all of the above mentioned characters are great, but...there is no comparison to the one and only, Mr. Spock. He is the very definition of Star Trek. And no, this is not debatable. I am also giddy to mention my knew favorite Trek villain, primarily due to the casting, John Harrison (played by the great and powerful Benedict Cumberbatch). Star Trek: Into Darkness would be lost without this man's genius.
My favorite soft drink is Coke, for no better reason than it's obvious supremacy over all other available options. I don't drink any Pepsi products. Pizza is the world's greatest food and I firmly believe that the US currency should be replaced with chocolate (don't lecture me about logistics, I will make it happen!).
I am an unashamed Christian and have strong faith in Jesus Christ.
