Every time I photograph a wedding, and engagement session, a family, I always try to make something I would be proud to put in my portfolio or enter in to a competition.

I've made a collection of my recent award-wining images and written a few words about why I enter competitions here:

I hope you like them!

I love a grand doorway as the backdrop to a beautiful bride in my wedding photography. This was St Patrick's RC church on the Cowgate in Edinburgh.

Fantastic night last night at the Master Photographers Association awards dinner. It was of course made better by my photos having been selected as finalists in both the wedding category and monochrome.

There were some phenomenal images on display so was really proud to have come away with these wins.

This weekend's wedding. Amy and Andrew were married at Eskmills on November 5th. That should be an easy anniversary date to remember. They will also get free anniversary firework displays forever!

Congratulations Amy and Andrew

Ruth and William were married in Eyemouth on the North Sea coast of the Scottish Borders. After an intimate ceremony in a church Ruth's dad had helped build we spent a few minutes on the cliffs above the town. The weather was kind and we got some amazing images of them with sea and stormy sky.

Duns Castle is a beautiful place. It is a very well kept and preserved castle with lovely grounds. I'm sure the grounds are great in the summer, but the autumn colours at this time of year were amazing. Check out the photo with the red Acer in the background.

Congratulations Ruth and Bill.

This weekend was the wedding of Jo and James at Airth Castle near Falkirk.

This was a very happy smiley affair with lots of people who like to pull faces at the camera. I have mainly uploaded the less posed photos but there are some cracking poses to deliver to the bride a groom. Especially given that the majority of the men in kilts had never worn a kilt before...

Clare and James had their wedding in Edinburgh this weekend. The Groom and some guests first gathered at the Sheep Heid Inn, Edinburgh's oldest pub, which was good because it got us out of the rain. By the time we came out the weather was improving.

The ceremony was held in Duddingston Kirk which itself dates to the 12th Century. Afterwards we used the beautiful Dr Neil's Garden for photos among the autumn colours.

Finally the reception was held in the George Hotel where I stayed long enough to cover the eloquent and moving speeches before leaving the very happy couple to the rest of their party.

Congratulations Clare and James.
