I've learned two things this week:
1) Most thrills are cheap thrills.
2) You can (and should) take your coffee in the shower with you.

I think I found my dream home. Shall we buy it, +Lisa Shinn?

Hume Castle in Berkeley for sale

While I'm personally not a fan of living in such a large house (5,750 sq.ft.), and will not be making an offer, it might be just right for you. The builders of the house in 1929 where Samuel and Portia Belle Hume. Samuel's father was James Hume, special detective to the Wells Fargo Co., who famously brought outlaw stage coach robber "Black Bart" to justice. *

Samuel Hume attended Berkeley High School, graduating in 1904, and then the UC Berkeley, where he played leading roles in student drama productions and received a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1908. In 1927 in Paris he met and married Portia Bell, a fellow Berkeley graduate who was studying sculpture with Antoine Boudelle. This was a second marriage for both. After returning to Berkeley, *the couple hired John Hudson Thomas to design a home in the Berkeley hills modeled after a medieval French cloister.

The present owners have lived there for 30 years and thought it's time to scale back. They are asking 5 million USD, which considering how expensive homes are in The Bay Area, seems a fair price for such a home. Be sure to check out the views of the bay, and the cloister, at the link.
Built in the style of a 13th century French monastery, this magnificent home looks as if it belongs perched on a European hillside.

Have you ever eaten tahini by itself? I tried it once, in 1994. I'm still trying to wash it out of my mouth.

This is what REAL princesses do!

Thanks to Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein for supporting Global Goals for Sustainable Development 1 & 2 to achieve no poverty and zero hunger.
Her Royal Highness has been a great advocate for poverty eradication efforts and anti-hunger campaigns since she was appointed a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2007.

We have worked with Dr. Grey for years now, and have always been treated well. He and his staff have been compassionate with us through the death of several pets, and we'll always be thankful. Highly recommended!

One of my favorite places to eat in Downtown Reedley. The gourmet grilled cheese sandwich is a must-have, but a bit of a guilty pleasure. The buffalo chicken sandwich is pretty good, and the sour dough bowl with soup is good. Don't forget to save some room for Ice Cream!

Bud and his staff have taken really good care of our insurance needs. We've been using his services since we opened our business in 2006.

I stopped in one afternoon, after lunch, and asked if they sell individual cupcakes. Sadly, they don't, but they DO serve individual cake slices. I tried a few cakes, and the tres leche cake stands out as a special favorite. It was very moist and oh-so tasty. Highly recommended!
