I can't characterize this well.

Stunning.

A life played out in 12 minutes of music.

12 minutes of holding my breath as I moved through another man's history.

Whatever it is, you should listen to this, this is what storytelling sounds like when told through the medium of the guitar.

This is essentially taxing the poor. The inmates don't have any money to pay for these calls, so the only people who can field the money are the families and loved ones.

"""
“As the gravy train is coming to an end, these same telecoms are moving aggressively to field of video visitation, which is completely unregulated,” explained Wright, noting that some existing video contracts give generous kickbacks, but require jails to completely eliminate in-person visitation.
"""

Capitalism!

Honestly, the state should not be able to make money off prisoners. They should be, for the state, an immense and unwieldy burden. Imprisonment should be as much a deterrent for the state as for would-be criminals.
"They're monetizing human suffering and human captivity," said editor Paul Wright with Prison Legal News.

Okay... Youtube has a "my mix" button. I'm not sure what magic was used to come up with "my mix" but it's been an essentially perfect night of music videos and interesting content.

Mine is pretty solid, but highlights the price of letting many different aspects of life collide while logged in. I've got videos for me (power metal, battle metal, dubstep, modern electronica, the Kung Fury trailer + the Hoff), for my son (They Might Be Giants for kids videos), for work (bands that we've had come play at the college, and bands with a similar sound), and stuff that certain friends have just sent me a million times (Starcadian everything from a friend who's obsessed, and Turn Down for What from... most of earth last Summer).

A lot of work went into this, it's pretty awesome.

Introducing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic

Our happiest Google+ users are those who connect with others around shared interests and passions. So we set out to give people a place to express the things they love. Today, we’re announcing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic.

Every collection is a focused set of posts on a particular topic, providing an easy way for you to organize all the things you’re into. Each collection can be shared publicly, privately, or with a custom set of people. Once you create your first collection, your profile will display a new tab where other people can find and follow your collections.

Posts in collections you follow will appear in your Home stream, with a link to easily jump right into the collection so you can get to similar content from that author. Collections give you a great way to find more of the stuff you love from the people you follow.

Collections is available on Android and the web, and iOS is coming later. For Android users, make sure to update your Google+ app to get access to Collections.

For inspiration on interesting topics, check out our Featured Collections page here: g.co/collections

Create your collections today and share what you love.

Ouch.
Just a heads-up: This is satire. This. Is. Satire. But that's why it's so freaking good.

I made it 5seconds into the trailer before I rage quit. It's infuriating because it's true.

Semi related: Last night viv and I finished Shadow of Mordor. An edgey murder simulator set in tolkiens own special wortorn third world country.

The game bugged me.

In the beginning of the game, you can choose to play as a woman. We did because I am a glutton for disappointment and had hoped they had told a story that would be inclusive to our choice.

They did not.

The story is about a stony faced brown haired generic white man on his lightly bearded path for revenge.

While we could play as a woman in the gameplay portions (and the creators get points for that), every cut scene we reverted to the Clone of Heroes Past.

This was fine it was clear they had patched "hey girls might like to play as themselves" on at the end, and frankly it is progress!

What bugged me was when we met the richly rendered female we were playing as halfway through the game. A princess of a Tribe of humans, holding her people together with charisma and determination.

Hell yes.

I want to play That story!

Awesome. I can handle this; she's strong and loyal and even if the rest of the story is just tepid revenge porn, I can head canon my way past it.

And then the princess gets caught. And I literally have to storm a castle to save the princess (who's character model I am playing) while a gruff voice tells a disembodied regurgitated dashing herotron (whos charavter model i was clearly supposed to be playing) that I am just being emotional in saving her.

When I end up with my character model holding my character model as I slay orcs to save the only interesting character in the entire game... That's when I got annoyed.
Spoiler alert: it’s a rom-com! “For Black Widow, falling in love can be hard, but it can also be ... INCREDIBLE!” Cardigan-clad Scarlett Johansson, last night’s Saturday Night Live host, is a true hero for participating in this (probably depressingly accurate) sketch.

What about a romantic comedy, but at the end she kills the guy because he was evil and everything else was just her way of getting the information she needed.

Also, like all Linux boot sequences in the last 10 years, it mostly seems to be comprised of scary looking error messages that are presumably completely nominal, which makes it clear that nobody ever looks at this stuff.

The new layout of the AT&T store seems to borrow heavily from an Apple Store feel. You are greeted at the door by a person who takes your name and you are shown to a lounge in the back which has two huge televisions there to distract you from the wait (it was playing the World Cup when we were there). After a reasonable wait (20ish minutes), one of several attendants finds you and takes you to a private table where they work through your issue. Our attendant, Anthony was great. Extremely positive, it didn't feel like our problem was ever an inconvenience, and most importantly he always had a path forward, another thing we could try. When I had ideas of how to solve the problem he listened to them, and we even tried a few. And in short order my phone was working and we were back to the races. All in all, I went in dreading an upsell, and having to deal with attitude, and had a pleasant experience with timely service. You may not like AT&T's policies, but the people working the floor aren't to blame. A+ service.
