The documentary about my end-to-end cycle tour of Japan one month after the 2011 quake just reached 1/4 million views. Thanks to all who've viewed it, this is well beyond the attention I expected it would get. I hope it helps people remember to set big goals and believe in them.

+Neel Pathare It's definitely a considerable time commitment. If you've only got a few weeks and want to see the whole country, I recommend doing it by train. Not the shinkansen or bullet, but the futsuu 普通 slow trains. Go during one of the major school breaks in Japan, buy several Seishun Juhachi Kippu ticket deals and have a blast. Be sure not to miss Shikoku since the rails through the north side of the island go through some gorgeous scenery. Cheers!

It was my pleasure to curate the theme with +Lucille Galleli & +Ken McMahon. We had another fantastic week of entries, thank you all! We tried to view and comment on everyone's entries (especially if you mentioned us directly in the post), and it was also great to see a lot of community involvement in the comments of each image. Keep up the community support!

Hopefully this circle includes everyone that contributed to Wide Wednesday Panorama this week, but experience says we missed some. Everyone is important to the success of the theme.

Thanks for joining us! See you next week.

Note: we want to be up front. Many of the people in this circle received a "notification" that we added them to our circles. This is a temporary circle and we can't keep everyone in the long term. We will keep people that have circled us as long as we can but, we may need to drop some of the people that added us.

Architectural Photography: Going Pro with the Olsons
(interview here: goo.gl/5ME0Z )

Last month I received a direct mailer for architectural photography from Olson Photographic. Although my architectural photography needs were all set, the photo was too good to ignore. After being thoroughly wow’ed by their portfolio site, I just had to have them on The Unframed World.

Japan in a Nutshell
I can verify that 2 years in Japan is only enough to crack the surface of this curious, endearing, and infinitely deep culture. Here are some of my top shots from my time there. Enjoy and share them around.

Anyone else been Japan and have fond memories? Where did you go? What did you do? I'm really craving some Japan stories right now.

Awesome images Andrew. I've been here 8.5-years and my scratch isn't and deeper than your scratch of two years. I am an "Outdoorholic" (self explanatory) and I concentrate on places off-the-beaten-track. That way I get to see/experience the "real" Japan.

THE JAPAN BY BICYCLE FILM IS COMPLETE!
Watch the 60 sec trailer.

To celebrate the 2 year anniversary of crossing the finish line of Japan by Bicycle, I've released the full film and 300+ page eBook for free at JapanByBicycle.com. This 3500km end-to-end cycle run across Japan I took with Scott R Keenan and Dylan Gunning 1 month after the 2011 earthquake was the most awesome adventure I've ever been on. Hopefully the film and eBook inspire people to dream big.

Enjoy and please share it with anyone you know who is obsessed with Japan.

A few crazy Japan by Bicycle stats:
Total distance: 3,518 km
Hours pedaling: 175 hours, 1 minute (according to odometer)
Days taken: 43
Final crash count: Andrew: 4; Scott: 3; Dylan: 0
Total nights camping: 25. Dylan had 26 since he camped every night on his solo trek of Shikoku.
Longest distance covered in one day: 222 km from Nagoya to Fuji, Shizuoka Pref., in about 10 hours of pedal time, on Day 27.

Thanks to +Matthew Matthew J. Bolduc for writing the film's soundtrack, Bradley Loewen for translating the subtitles into Japanese, Yannick McLeod for the awesome title graphic illustration, and my beautiful wife Lori Marston for letting me devote over 300 hours to making the film and eBook. — with Bradley Loewen and 19 others at Japan.

Building an Online Photo Magazine: Interview with Camerapixo Founders
(full interview here: http://goo.gl/Y5w0d )

In this interview +Artur Heller and +Anetta Heller talk about how Camerapixo started and how it's grown to quickly reach over a million people. Not only do they do a great job creating worthwhile content and promoting brilliant photographers, they’ve created a unique model for how to start a magazine a that others would do well to follow.

Thanks again Artur and Anneta!
