Never in my life am I going to use any services of CHOC Children Hospital.

An emergency visit there in 2012 was not fun in itself. It was for a couple of stitches on my son's chin after he fell on pavement.

When bills for over $800 came it became even less fun. But I promptly paid all of them.

Now, nearly 2 years later, they claim to have made a mistake in the original bills and they want over $1000 extra on top of previous bills. After two hours spent on the phone I still can't understand what the extra money is for. This is ridiculous to the extreme.

Who knew light bulbs would come on a reel...
I put these under kitchen cabinets on Saturday. It looks great and it uses about 15 watts instead of more than 60.

That's pretty cool.

These are not addressable, they are just light bulbs. And as far as I understand white leds of this type are not fast enough for dynamic apps. They are a different technology, not just led.

But I did a project a couple of years ago -- mounted some led "spokes" to bike wheels. When synced up they showed the bike's current speed on the wheel and some cool screen-saver like visual effects. Basically anything you can draw in a 16x256 buffer shows over the moving wheel. The faster it moves the better it looks.

This is such a beautiful idea!

Is it the first time in history a full life cycle is expected to happen on another planet? I heard of experiments with plants carried in space, but never on another planet's surface. This will be quite a milestone then!

Space is for humanity what sex is for humans: a way to procreate and to have fun in the process.

I admit it is not a 100% accurate analogy, but it is close enough to explain in a conversation why space exploration is important.

We go to space not only because we're curious, and not only for commercial potential, but because it is vitally important. I would go so far as to say it is the only really important thing -- in the same purely biological sense as having kids is the only really important thing a human can do.

This (crappy) picture is for +Igor S -- what it looks like installed. You can see the outline of old CFLs. I did not bother patching the wall because we are going to replace the cabinets anyway. Which is also why I mounted lights on coroplast first instead of just sticking them on cabinets.

This is Google Voice's take on a voice mail my friend left for me. Literal cut and paste, nothing added or removed.

Here is a very simple life hack.

Several banks give an option to deposit checks by taking a picture of them with a phone (and I love them for that).

The problem is that some checks are nearly impossible to deposit this way because the reverse side is almost uniformly blank and the phone can't auto-focus. Typically you get something similar to the first picture. The solution is to put some high contrast object into view, like a sticky note. Same phone, same bad lighting, but now you get a focused picture.

You might still need to play with it a bit, trying to position it so the sticky note is closer to the center, but it usually works.

Introduction
I create things for the web and Android platform and I work as a consultant for R.S.Hughes.

I am the author of several Android apps: Slitherlink puzzles, Where Am I? app for looking up and sharing location data, Plasma Smudges live wallpaper -- https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Ejelta+LLC

Most successful of my public projects so far is book database at http://ISBNdb.com/ (sold in 2010).
I saved Steven's card and will call him again if anything happens. He did the job quickly and professionally. Our jammed door is fixed and he was able to install a new quiet belt opener the same day, something I planned to do for a while.

It was our first time staying in Big Bear area in winter (although we stayed in other cabins in other places). I won't list many of the things said in other reviews -- every good thing said is true. The property is in perfect shape, very clean, thought out and well maintained. Some nice touches include: a variety of board games for kids and adults, electric blankets, a separate little room for a child (designed for a small kid, but our 13-year old took over it). In winter time you can sled right from the deck of the house! We ended up not going to any snow play areas because of that.
