For those who are wondering, I convinced my interviewees that the bet was not a scam: they could inspect the coin, flip it themselves, use their own coin etc. I explained that the experiment was intended to explore their approach to risk. It was fear of losing $10, not distrust, that led them to decline the bet.

Also, watch the OTHER hand. Always a good suggestion for slight if hand magic tricks, ESPECIALLY for most of these.

The last one is partly and intentionally obfuscated by the change in the camera angle. I've done that trick myself (or a variation of it). I won't give that one away either, but I'll also add that the people at the table were most definitely privy to how it was done.
