Western Sydney Uni is competing in the 2017 World Solar Challenge. The event started yesterday in Darwin and will race 3000km across Australia to Adelaide over the next 4 or 5 days.

https://www.worldsolarchallenge.org

Our car is currently placed 6th of 18 in Challenger class, traveling at about 80kmph. Which is pretty awesome for sunlight!

For the rest of us back in Sydney the best place to watch the race is on Liquid Galaxy virtually via Street View :)

Google Daydream just got first class VR view sharing for ChromeCast.

You could always screen mirror but it was a bit lame having a pair of 'binocular' views. Now you can have a full-resolution distortion-free view on a big screen!

For some VR apps & demos this is now a better setup than the PC VR.

DomeLab Residency a photo a day #1

A bunch of us from WSU are having a play at the UNSW EPICentre DomeLab high-resolution projection hemispherical dome facility for a week or three.

We started last week, so I'm a few days behind but will catch you'z up over the weekend :/

I'll capture in 360 but will probably post as 2d projections, 'coz it's arty and stuff.

Bye bye Google Nexus and Pixel... Motorola beats you.

At least for hacky developer nerds.

Shot of my Moto Z with a Moto Mods dev kit and Raspberry Pi Sense Hat.

The Moto Z also plays well with Daydream VR.

If Motorola can keep this up I'm not sure why I would buy a Nexus or Pixel phone again.

Chris Hedges nails that slight sinking feeling I have recently while laughing along with Colbert, Stewart, Oliver. And this from a talk he gave 3 years ago pre-Trump... gak.

Western Sydney's robot absolutely nailing the quarter final rounds of the NI Autonomous Robotics Competition in Sydney this afternoon.

Easily the fastest robot of the comp. 2m30s allocated, this robot completes in under 23 seconds!

Unfortunately the teamed placed fourth overall, just couldn't get consistent delivery. No other team drove the omni's as hard as the guys did here. Did win Best Looking robot!

Digital Humanities researchers (Simon, Andreas, Katie, Rachel, Jason) having a cracking afternoon getting their fingers dirty with Google-supplied IoT tech. Including Eddystone beacons, Edison boards and ChromeOS ChromeBits. We setup home in the 'Blank Slate' our new mini-hacker space at Western Sydney University Parramatta campus.
