This is Rufus.
Rufus is a bobcat that lives at the Dallas Zoo. I didn't believe he was real because every time I went (I go often) the most I would see of Rufus is an ear sticking up from behind a bush. I was actually beginning to think the zoo had an animatronic bobcat.
Much to my surprise, Rufus was up and walking around this past Sunday morning. After posting these photos on the other site the Dallas Zoo shared a link to the story of how Rufus ended up in the zoo.
Rufus is a wild bobcat from Dallas. Back in the Spring of 2001 he figured out how to get into the zoo and he started attacking zoo animals. He actually killed 3 small antelope (dik-diks) before being snared in August.
Once he was caught, the State suggested Rufus be euthanized to test for rabies. The zoo suggested putting Rufus in isolation to monitor for rabies symptoms and the rest is history. http://zoohoo.dallaszoo.com/2014/09/18/zoo-is-forever-home-to-bobcat-rufus/
