For low-income students, getting into college is a pipe dream.

Even thinking about it seems like a waste of time.

Take J.L., who I've been mentoring for the past few months in the Bay.

A junior, J.L takes high school one day at a time.

He's a track star. A Raiders fan. And unlike other teens, he's proud to say he loves his mom.

But J.L.'s got a lot going on.

He works at the carwash.

He's captain at the track team.

And with seven classes, he's got a ton to study for.

Who's got time to think about college?

That's where iMentor comes in.

Every Monday, Ms. M from iMentor guides J.L. and other students in learning about higher education.

From learning about community colleges to understanding financial aid to writing a college resume, Ms. M and her iMentor colleagues help make college a reality.

You can help high school students believe in themselves, too.

My goal for this fundraiser is $5,000: what it costs to provide FIVE MENTOR/MENTEE PAIRS iMentor's curriculum and resources.

No matter what level you can give, you'll help a community of people who believe strength is in diversity, inclusivity, and what we can accomplish when we create pathways to opportunity for all students.

Got questions? Let me know. I'd love to chat.

Tertiary comics talk, but anyone ever attend MondoCon? I'm a big vinyl collector and I've been picking up their Batman/Superman records (and a bunch of B:TAS posters), but I've never been to the actual convention. Anyone have good/bad things to say about it?

I got jealous of everyone going to SDCC, so I wanted to #TBT a little bit to this awesome punk rock Wonder Woman I got from Cliff Chiang at East Coast Comic Con. :)

Read of the day for me is Flintstones #1. I was surprised by how good and hard-hitting it was. I'm too young to remember Flintstones playing on any timeslot other than morning cartoons, but I have to imagine this is what it was like when it was on primetime TV. It's probably in your LCS' kids' comics section, but it seriously is edgy enough to read as a grown-up.

Any chance that guy in BS#32 was the "first attempt at this"? From New Super-Man #1.

Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but Nadia Pym, Hank Pym's daughter, first appeared in Free Comic Book Day 2016 (Avengers), and is now starring in her own series, UNSTOPPABLE WASP.

Of course, the folks at BC are rolling their eyes all over at this, but judging from the fact that UNSTOPPABLE WASP definitely isn't for their demographic, I think this might just have legs. Still, FCBD books are sometimes difficult to find in 9.8. I would know, having bought way too many 1st app Simon Bazs that turned out 9.6 ... rest in peace my wallet.

Riri Williams just keeps moving up. Her first app's practically nonexistent on the CGC census, and one of them, Invincible Iron Man #7 in CGC 9.8 ended at $142.50 yesterday (I tried to win it; I didn't) and the raws are now listing for $15-20 (except for a few stragglers at $5-7). For reference: GPA lists the last IIM #7 as ending in May for only $45.

EDIT: Just received this from CGC: "After reviewing the issues in question, Invincible Iron Man #7 will be labeled as Riri's first appearance in cameo on last page, and #9 will be labeled as her first full appearance."
