I think I'd like to submit something to this.

More "good clean fun" receiving data from the ISS tonight. This time I had a visible pass and I watched the ISS glide beneath Orion's Belt as I received it at S9 from my mobile rig. Yaesu 8800 with the dual-band vertical.

The International Space Station was transmitting slow-scan TV (still images) this weekend. Had a good pass over my neighborhood this morning and I picked up this image. It's actually fairly clean for SSTV over radio, although you can see where I picked up some static crashes where those horizontal lines appeared. It took the station more than 3 minutes to transmit this.

The signal was so strong you could have done this with a simple scanner!

The Citizen Nighthawk is starting to fall out of favor with me for full mechanical designs, and tool/purpose-built watches, but this thing sure looks cool, even if it is pretty difficult to photograph.

Set the date to yesterday's date, then roll the time forward past 12 until the date flips to the current date. If it's the morning, set the time and go about your day. If it's afternoon, roll the time past 12 again (the date won't change) and set the time where it needs to be. It helps to think of it in 24-hour time. The date only rolls over after the hour hand hits 12 twice in a 24-hour period.

Damn, photographing watches is challenging! My newest "precious" arrived today, straight from Singapore from the boutique watchmaker, Gruppo Gamma. These watches sold out within hours of availability. Happy to report I'm 100% satisfied. This is a helluva timepiece.

I worked up the courage to post this gallery up on Reddit in the /r/watches sub, and in true Internet fashion, all I got were grouchy comments like "looks like a Panerai," and the few positive comments got downvoted.

Meanwhile, every time someone posts a blurry photo of their Casio G-Shock the place goes absolutely ape. I give up, lol.

I'd like to try this someday.
Watch modding (modification) has become a subculture within the watch collectors’ world with a small but strong contingent of individuals making parts.

Freemasons marched to the statehouse Sunday to lay a wreath at the statue of George Washington. Quite an event.

This is an amazing post about one of the most complex handmade watches. The video is also a must-see +Stewart Grinton
In the world of high complications, the grande and petite sonnerie holds a very special place, well above even split-seconds chronographs, perpetual calendars, and certainly above the once-holy tourbillon. There are but a small handful of watchmakers, as individuals, or as brands, capable of producing such a watch. It is that special, and François-Paul Journe launched his Sonnerie Souveraine back in 2006, by himself.

Holy smokes. If your own name is the serial number you know what you're buying is pretty fancy. A twisted part of me would love polishing all those little parts and pieces all day.
