My pal Steve and I did some amateur radio atop Sassafras Mountain in the upstate yesterday. We activated the peak with 14 contacts -- 13 of those on Morse code and a single voice contact -- using five watts and a vertical antenna. We had a nice opening to the west and logged Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Missouri and more.

I should also mention this was my first SOTA activation, and I apologize in advance for being a rough CW operator!

Here's a watch for you to consider +Stewart Grinton the IWC Portugieser Sidérale Scafusia "a watch from another planet." Every amateur astronomer needs one!

Thanks man. Wish I'd had some more time there to focus on portraits a bit, but anyway!

"Authentic” NASA velcro strap for the Omega Speedmaster. If I can ever buy one of these watches I will have to get this strap too.

I just noticed the strap has a "meaty" color scheme. Like a steak being freshly seared.

I've had my Speedmaster for about two weeks, and already the clasp is getting scratches... not sure how this is possible, as I never rest it on anything, but at least minor scratches are easy to buff out.
Removing Scratches From An Omega Seamaster Clasp. By: John B. Holbrook, II. December 16, 2006. Anyone who owns an Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster with the two-button clasp knows that it's a fantastic clasp, but also knows that it shows scratches very easily. Back when I did my review of the black ...

Well, this was unexpected. When DXO started pitching the "new shape of photography" I expected a new RAW converter or filter set... certainly not iPhone hardware. 1-inch sensor? That's huge.
Get the world's smallest 1-inch sensor camera and capture beautiful, high-resolution photos anywhere.

Apparently the "new shape of photography" involves lots of blue tones?

I think they are different. VSCO is just a set of presets that relies on the built-in filters of Camera RAW, Lightroom, etc. to produce a certain look. While some of these other packages are actual standalone filters. The VSCO stuff can get you a good look a bit faster since you aren't loading up extra plugins.

I'm not sure what this new shape of photography hype is about but we'll find out in a few days.

+Stewart Grinton you need one of these watches with a meteorite dial!
Where did Jaeger-LeCoultre find meteorite to sit so elegantly on the Master Calendar’s dial?
