Like most municipalities in Michigan and nationwide, the Bay City Commission is a nonpartisan elected body that is supposed to represent the city's residents and not political interests. But when political affiliations of a commission are so obvious, it shines light on the questions: Should nonpartisan City Commissioners advertise their partisan beliefs? And should the Bay City Commission become a partisan body?
