they are public figures though, and the implications to the behaviour and personal character of people who are our elected representatives is vital in a democracy.  Bill Clinton and Monica have nothing on a leader who potentially allowed or encouraged his followers to break rules, then when they were caught may have tried to hide it.  We have a right to have insight into the character of the people and parties we are represented by.

There must be a way to manage this in a humane manner. Asking terminally ill or incapacitated patients to suffer, in some cases for years is inhumane. We don't treat our pets this way.
