I keep hearing a lot about WhatsApp, and how it's really a social network and all this. But I fail to see how it's any more useful or special than Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, or any other messaging app. I guess part of it is you go where people are communicating. But I don't really know many people who use WhatsApp. Almost everyone I know uses facebook. No one that I know uses Hangouts, but Hangouts combines SMS, MMS, Hangouts chat, and Google Voice all in one place so I can use it to communicate cross platform without too much concern about what apps others are using for communication.
So I most typically use Facebook and Hangouts for all communication. Maybe if everyone I knew was using WhatsApp, and in order to communicate I had to use it, then I'd switch over. But in the meantime I just can't figure out a reason to use it above anything else.
